Attila
I really like MM (despite the bad rap it gets on SB sometimes).Does anyone know if the attached is just a speciality bottle or are the contents different? Is it worth twice the price of the standard bottle of MM (not in terms of rarity, but in terms of yummyness)? NeoTexan
The attachment does not work. But let me try to answer without seeing .... unless the bottle is a 101 proof the contents are more than likely the standard fair of MM.
fishnbowljoe
Might want to try uploading the attachment again. Ditto what Dale said. MM does have a bunch of specialty bottles out right now. The Rock The Vote bottle The States bottle, plus their VIP bottle and many others. Check out their website to try and find out more. If you get that attachment uploaded, I bet Dale can tell you what it is though. Joe

HighTower
That's a 1980's Gold Wax 101 proof.Europe and Japan got them.I opened a bottle the day our daughter Georgia was born and it's some of the best bourbon I have ever had.Scott
Attila
Wow! Looks like I am bidding on it then.(but I wonder if it was the best bourbon because thats the day Georgia was born, or was it because of the quality of the bourbon.)It is 101 proof and the seller confirms that he got it over 10 years ago. That's a 1980's Gold Wax 101 proof.Europe and Japan got them.I opened a bottle the day our daughter Georgia was born and it's some of the best bourbon I have ever had.Scott
Attila
I offered 25% than the current bid and was topped in 3 seconds. Oh well, I hope it goes to a happy home.

Had to watch my Steeler's. :woohoo: I see that it has been answered. I can tell you that it usually sells for over $100 on E-bay. I have a bottle (unopened). HighTower
(but I wonder if it was the best bourbon because thats the day Georgia was born, or was it because of the quality of the bourbon.)I can see how that could happen  but I have revisited it since, and I still put it up there. I have 2 bottles (one open and 1 full) and when Bill Samuels was here in May I got him to sign one. He looked at it for some time and said it must be 20-30 years old.I am glad I opened one of them though, it makes me wonder how many other unopened gems I have sitting here....David my Japanese is a little? scratchy, but they had them listed at http://www.sake-brutus.com/old-bottle/old.htmllast week, for around Y13,800 if I recall correctly. There's no price there now but they still have a picture. Maybe you can read something I can't pick up.CheersScott

StraightBoston
I have a bottle of the gold wax 101 as well (opened!) Much, much better than standard MM red wax, but much, much, much, MUCH less than that Van Winkle Family Reserve 15yo you recently picked up!Both the black wax (95 proof) and gold wax (101 proof) expressions were fairly widely available in Japan until about 4-5 years ago, so it's not impossible that you can find a "dusty" in a smaller bottle shop.
