Toronto was able to convert these great buildings into a thriving district...too bad it does not happen often enough in other cities. I was curious about the old G&W brands...it appears they really shifted into industrial alcohol and acetone in the 1880s.....Old Rye and Toddy....forgotten now.

Ah yes, Miss Whisky. This lady wrote an impressive study of the Canadian distilling industry from 1850-1900. I have drawn attention to this before, I believe. Extracts of her studies were placed on this interesting (satirical, humorous) site Jon has drawn attention to. I believe her surname is MacKinnon.
