I tasted this recently, at a LCBO tasting counter and based on that will probably pick this up. It is quite sweet with a very good oak-driven flavor but without tannic edges as you sometimes get in an older whisky. The taste is just very good, it is perfect for neat sipping with its brandy-like texture and finish. Maybe bottling in Kentucky (as seems the case per the label) infused some good bourbon-laden air in the product. :) It is better than the CC 20 I recall from 4 or 5 years ago when we last saw it here (released with another luxury product called Founder's Reserve, a Hiram Walker whisky from old reserves at 43% ABV - I wonder if what was Founder's Reserve has now aged into CC 30 years old).

I prefer this CC 20 to the CC 30 I also tasted recently. While it does not break the mold for the Canadian whisky style pioneered by HIram Walker it offers a very good interpretation of the style - possibly the best ever released by the brand. It can only be compared to, say, Crown Royal Special Reserve, not any of Forty Creek's products, but within that compass is top of the line indeed.

Queen's Quay, Chris. They didn't have the 30 but did have I believe the Forty Creek Double Barrel (it changes periodically as you know). 50 cents for maybe half an ounce, not bad.
