Some time ago we cleaned out the basement of my grandmother and I found three bottles of bourbon.

One of them was a bottle of OGD 86 proof, DSP KY 14.

By using the DSP number couldn't it be possible to see if it was distilled at Beam or National Distillers?

Does anyone know?

DSP KY 14 is the Old Grand Dad distillery. It is used for warehousing and bottling; since the Beam takeover in 1987 distillation has ceased there.

sounds like it is the older stuff... before Beam shut down distillery operations there, but I am not expert. Hopefully someone else can shed some light.

So the bottle is probably an "original" Old Grand Dad.

By the way the two other bottles were Old Forester 80 proof and

I.W. Harper 86 proof.

They were all excellent pours but I thought the I.W. Harper was really

outstanding.:yum:

The only disappointment was that they were all miniature bottles.

"Original" is stretching a point, since Old Grand-Dad is a pre-prohibition brand and the original distillery was in Nelson County, but pre-Beam it probably is.
