I noticed this week that Liquor Barn in Lexington, which typically has one of the best selections of bourbon in the world, was completely void of any size of AAA. In fact, no shelf space is currently allocated to the brand. What gives? Does anyone have any info on current availability? Has it been discontinued? Help me please!!!

If you're speaking of the store on Man O War, I was there twice this past week noticed the same thing. NO AAA. But there was also no AA 100 proof. And on Christmas eve, not one bottle of Eagle Rare on the shelves. So I'm thinking that it might be just an out of stock issue, what with Christmas and all. I bought a bottle of AAA there just a very few weeks ago.

Yep, that's the store. I was at the LB on Hurstbourn Lane in Louisville this afternoon and they had a few bottles, but it was obviously a dwindling supply. Needless to say I picked up a couple of bottles. I figure I'll wait a few weeks before I go into full-blown panic mode and begin buying every bottle I find.

I live four miles from that (Man-O-War) store and I'm even closer to the Richmond Road Liquor Barn. I have the numbers of both on my cell phone. I might stop by or else give them a buzz to ask whether they know what the deal is. Where do you live, Jeff?

UPDATE as of Sunday, 12-28-2008: I spoke with a clerk at Liquor Barn (Richmond Rd) who told me that they only have pints and half pints in stock currently. She further told me that the distributor is sold out of larger sizes. I have written to the distillery to ask whether or not the product is completely discontinued. Details to follow. Stay tuned ...

MONDAY UPDATE: I called the Buffalo Trace distillery (might have been easier just to drive to Frankfort and knock on their door) and finally got someone in distribution. He does not believe that the product is being discontinued, but he promised to have someone call me back with further details. Don't touch that dial ...

I have some good news on which to end 2008: an email from the brand manager at the Buffalo Trace distillery assures me that Ancient Ancient Age 10 year is NOT being discontinued and the distillery has no plans to discontinue its production. It came from the same person who recently dispelled a rumour for me that OWA 107 might be discontinued.

This DESPITE conflicting information from the floor of the Liquor Barn on Man-O-War in Lexington. Two clerks at separate stores informed me that the LB no longer plans to carry AAA 10 year and the shelves no longer have price labels for it. They also claimed that it was being discontinued, but I'll take the distillery's word over the word of a retailer, albeit a very significant retailer.

Hopefully, this closes the case on AAA 10 yr.

I was in Shephardsville (?), KY yesterday and saw lots of AAA on a shelf and thought about buying some. Glad to hear I will still be able to get it.
