It may sound like a stupid question, but I have a very good reason. Please post pics of your favorite bottle shape.

Thanks

Judging just on shape? I like Buffalo Trace. But if we include label design I really dig Baby saz. I like the label and I like the fact that it is painted on and not paper.

When I was drinking El Tesoro tequila the other day, I was admiring its painted label and wondering why more bourbon bottles didn't use that technique. I always liked WT RR 101's painted label.

Leaving bourbon behind for a moment, I think the Captain Morgan Private Stock bottle is pretty cool staying in price ranges, but out of everything, the coolest bottle I have seen is the Hennessy Ellipse bottle, and I'll be damned if I ever get a sip of that stuff.

I seem to like the bottle art better when there is whiskey still in the bottle. There is something very off putting about an empty bottle. AS far as basic shape goes, I like the style similar to WT Russell's Reserve or better, Aberlour Abunadh. I also like the decanter styles but no favorite that stands above the rest.

You and I agree on something again. Sazerac bottles are just absolutely perfect.

Shape only, not label design etc.?

OK, Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit and Four Roses Single Barrel.

Opps, sorry I didn't post pics as requested in above post so here goes with thumbnails below.

The FR is a 120 not a SB but same shape.

I have a few that to me are eye catching and unique. This year's Maker's Mark VIP bottle, Rock Hill Farms, Four Roses Small batch (Mariage), Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, and Willett'e Family Reserve. Joe

I like the simple squat bottle like that found on the ORVW 10/107 and the Old Weller Antique. For a fancier design, I think the Four Roses Single Barrel is cool the way it starts round at the bottom and turns square up higher, and the way the wood cork housing goes down around the mouth is cool too.

I like the BTAC bottles for proving form follows function by:

A) Showing the color of the bourbon well.

B) Serving as a filter, if poured slowly, when there's lots of char at the bottom in the last couple pours.

C) Having a small diameter which exposes less surface area to oxygen.

Maybe I'm too practical, but I like the square Bushmills bottles for ease of packing into a bar. For beauty I go for the FR SB.

I like the ETL / Weller Cent. bottle displayed as my avatar.

I agree. Purely in terms of shape, I like this short, squat form figure. Not sure why, but the square bottle seems simple and timeless.

In terms of overall esthetics, I agree with some of the other comments here; including the Saz Jr. I also like the ER SB bottle.

Although it isn't bourbon or rye sysrick's recent post in the "Colorado Whiskey" thread reminded me of how much I like Stranahan's bottle shape.

Although, they're slightly different, the Buffalo Trace and EWSB bottles get my nod in the "They just damn look like a whiskey bottle should" category. From a strictly utilitarian standpoint, the square ET Lee bottle shape is easy to store and easy to grab. For pure good looks, the Willett Single Barrel Estate Reserve "Pot Still" bottle, Four Roses Single Barrel, and EC18 bottles sure are purdy.

It's not bourbon, but this is my answer....

I have to agree. That's one of those bottles that you just keep refilling because you never want to be finished with it.
