I wouldn't know where to start. For the annual GBS St. Patrick's Day gala this past weekend I had nearly 40 Irish whiskey's open just in that category. I do think I need to be a bit more cork vigilant though as I discovered while gathering them all together that I had a couple that were a bit loose. Fortunately it did not appear any whiskey was harmed as a result.

More than I care to admit, at least 12 bottles, not including some rum. Been hitting the beer a lot more since moving to CO.

Do you guys try to consume your open bottles in a certain amount of time? If so what is that?

Hopefully, before I shuffle off this mortal coil, I guess.    Other than that no set time to finish 'em.    Most are gone within a year or so; but not all.

I don't have a plan about how long each bottle should last.  But I tend to sample each open bottle about twice a month, so each lasts about 8 months.  In my whiskey education, I like to experience how much the taste changes (or does not change) over time and bottle air.

I saw something on an ABC tv station yesterday.  They were talking about experation dates on all different types of products.  Anyway, the wine expert said a bottle of spirits should be consumed within a year after opening.  I'm sure there are all kinds of variables concerning this.

I tend to pretty much ignore everything that comes after the words; "wine expert'..... but that's just me.

Steve, that's just obscene!

Why? With very few exceptions, it actually confused me!  Until I saw your signature at the end, I thought I was reading a list of my opens!

Haha, ditto! I was missing a few of the fancies though. I got into Booker's too late to get the 125th. Had a few offered to me, doh! And I don't think I'm likely to have a WFE23yr for at least another 10yrs.

But the crossover was otherwise remarkable!

It's good to know that the three of us could stumble home half asleep to each others houses and still feel right at home.

Like some others here, I have a lot open but don't have a list.  I don't think I have two of the same thing opened.  And, I don't intend on making a list.  If my wife found it . . .

I try to keep six or seven bottles open, never drinking the same whiskey more than once a week. That's enough that I'm grateful for my good fortune and not so many that I'm careless with my good health.

it's a great value, but here in Belgium, i have to pay between 50 and 90 euros for it. Last bottle i've purchased cost me more than 60 bucks. Europe in not the best place for bourbon lovers.

Cheers! Guillaume

Congrats, that's a nice selection, specially the Michter's 20yo (never tasted it, but looking forward to do it).

Would you please let me know your impression on the Barterhouse 20 yo ??

Kind regards

Thx, do you think 79$ Is a good price for it ?

That is about what it would cost here at regular retail price plus sales tax.  So it's probably much less mark up than you are charged on some other items.  One big question, are you getting a 750ml bottle or do they make a special 70cl bottle for Europe?
