Mosugoji64, I'll be right over to help out a fellow SB.com'er.

Mosugoji64, are the Evan Wiliams SB's actually 9 years and some months? I thought they were at least ten years.

Anytime, brother! Most of the EWSB I have seen have been just under 10yo. We occasionally hear of bottles over 10 but it seems like 9+ hits their target profile.

What is the story behind this mosugoji? Always thought all EWSB was the same recipe.

The story I heard is that they mistakenly rolled out one of their Old Fitz barrels for the barrel selection and the buyer selected it. Old Dusty (Eric) can correct/clarify that one. Whatever the case, it's surely a rarity for the EWSB lineage!

Yep that's the story. The age and proof are accurate on the label but it is HH wheated bourbon in an EWSB bottle. Hard to believe but everyone who has tasted the bottling confirmed it's a wheater.

Dang Bing, what time do I need to show up?

On topic, I've got way too much open at present. Need to cull, but the temptation to open and enjoy is too much to overcome.

Presently opens include HHSS, 4RSmB LE, W12, OWA, ER 101, CEHT SmB, AAA 10 yr, MC, RB, SAOS 10, WTRB, WTRR, ECBP, Dickel 9, 4RSB, EWSB, EC 12, OGD 114, VOB BIB, HH6 BIB, Dickel Rye and KCSB.

The question is "if you could pick one as a favorite, which one?"

Spoiled for choice there, but if I'm playing along at home I'm going for the two "V's" (Vintage and Van Winkle Rye)

Before getting on this site, and really expanding into bourbon, I would have said that Jefferson's Reserve was my favorite among 2 brands or so that I had open on my bar. It was my favorite because it was fairly smooth, and that is what I looked for in a good bourbon. After trying all of these others, Jefferson's Reserve is probably my least favorite. From trying so many, I'm starting to note all of the flavor differences, and I'm finding that Jefferson's doesn't really stand out in flavor, at least to me. I'm currently working my way through the bottle, to get it off the shelf. It is actually difficult, not because I dislike it, but because I'd rather have one of the others.

Really don't like it that much?, Try a vat with one of your favs off your list...... I usually start with a 1:1 ratio and go from there, my pick from your list would be the WF DO and with that I might go with 2:1 JR:WR DO for starters....JMHO.

Cleaning off my dresser, which just so happens to double as my whiskey shelf, so thought I'd contribute to this thread. As apartment living doesn't allow for a ton of storage (especially when 2 small children's stuff takes up what little there is) I usually only have a few "everyday" pours on hand and replace once they're empty. So this is what's open now:ETL, WT 101, SB HHSS 2014, Lot B, GTS 2012, Saz 18 2012, ER 17 2014, PHC 6, FRSmbLE 2013.

Those are your everyday pours? I'd like to shop where you do. Nice lineup.

Haha flahute! I did not mean to imply those are all everyday pours. Quite the contrary. The ETL and WT101 fit the everyday pour category and will be emptied relatively quickly and then replaced by other similarly available selections. The rest, except for the ER 17 which was just recently purchased, have been open for quite some time and I'll revisit when the mood strikes. One of the advantages of not having any bourbon loving friends, or wife, is that I drink pretty much all of it myself so I can make the harder to find ones last a little longer.

I have 6 bottles open right now. Stagg Jr, AA 86 proof, FRSB, EW BIB, HH gold label BIB, and BT are the only bourbons I currently have open on the shelf. Whoda thunk' it? Only 6 open, and not a wheater in the bunch. I think I'm gonna have to remedy that in the near future, once I finish off a couple more bottles. I've already got a few lined up for Wheater Fest 2015!

MM, MMCS, Larceny, Old Fitz BIB DSP 16/24, Weller 12, PS OWA, a liter bottle/old label 7 yr Weller SR, old label ORVW 10, a PHC wheated #2, and possibly a 2012 WLW, are all lined up and ready to go.

Cheers y'all!

Joe
