Yes it does sound very unique.

I am in the beer wholesale business and there is a lot of animosity between the different distributors.

But we duke it out with one another and the retail outlets are our battlefield.

Max's speech and the way he delivered it was perfect for bringing the employees back to reality.

And after a bizarre incident like that fire I'm sure a reality slap felt good.

Thats great that there is going to be another distillery up and running but it says that about three quarters of the whiskey it produces will go overseas. I doubt it will but I hope the 25% we get consists of the same brands they're going to be sending over there. As a US consumer it really annoys me to see other countries getting expressions we can't. (Prime example, no WT 8yr in the US while it's readily available in Europe (at least in the few places I've been...).)

I agree 'bat', especially about the Turkey.

I would like to see some sales numbers on how musch and of what is sold overseas and here in the USA.

It also seems to me that they export more higher-end bourbons of most everything.

Maybe we'll settle for the low-ends here more readily than overseas.

Schreiner is an AP reporter based in Louisville, so he understands the whiskey biz better than most, although I think the Angostura people were zooming him to some extent. They most likely will not be investing in marketing their own brand, except perhaps in the Caribbean where they already market a pretty full line of spirits products. They have stated in the past that they intend to compete primarily if not exclusively in the bulk whiskey market and everything they are doing points in that direction.

I was very surprised by the 2,000,000 proof gallon production target, which is rather small, probably the smallest in Kentucky except for Woodford Reserve.

But it's all good.

This story was also in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution this morning. It indeed, is great news.

Also, I have to give the AJC credit on their picking up of whiskey stories, particularly bourbon related ones. They consistently pick up these wire service stories, as well as authoring their own. Somebody over there must like their whiskey!
