My Four Roses Hot Toddy cup arrived in the mail a few weeks ago and I've been making hot toddys for my wife lately as she's had a raging cold for about two weeks. We'd never tried one before but now she likes them a lot (I use the recipe on the card that came with the cup but I use real maple syrup instead of sugar). Now I'm getting the beginnings of a real barn burner and decided to try one myself tonight. I give it two thumbs way up. My throat feels much better. My wife tells me that the healing effects are short lived, however. I may try upping the dosage a little.

The maple syrup (again, the real stuff, not Mrs. Butterworth or the like... on second thought, it may not be that bad... ah, why disgrace good bourbon with artificial crap like that? Use the good stuff).

I don't think I would have ever tried a hot toddy had it not been for this delightful little gift.

Next time you get a cold, try one of these before bedtime. It's the right stuff.

Cheers!

Yeah the gift cup spurred me to create and try my first hot toddy, too, and I was quite impressed. A tasty concoction.

I mostly like my bourbon neat, but the occasional julep in the summer and toddy in the winter are a treat, too.

can you all post the recipe?

yep, here goes,...

Place a piece of sugar in the bottom of a glass and dissolve with a little hot water.

Add a twist of lemon peel (bruise firmly), four cloves and, if you desire, a stick of cinnamon.

Pour a generous jigger (1 1/2 oz) of Four Roses Bourbon.

Fill the glass with steaming hot water.

Enjoy!

That's the recipe but I don't understand the measurement for , "a piece of sugar".

Edit:

Also the glass cup they sent measures out to hold 4 1/2 oz.

Oddly worded no doubt. Probably means a sugar cube?

Are the cup and recipe available somewhere? Via the web?

Craig

I would imagine they might sell the cups in their gift shop, but we got ours as a Christmas gift via their Mellow Moments Club (http://www.mellowmomentsclub.com/benefits.php).

Actually quite tasty. Sip through the cinnamon stick. You may want to add a little honey or some WT American Honey.

I was looking thru my collection of glassware and found a 2007 toddy glass in a slightly different shape from FR. I guess they have done the toddy glasses two years in a row.

Oh, that is a very good recipe. I made mine with Old Grand Dad. Everything else was strictly by the recipe.
