My wife says I call everything my favorite, but of all the bourbons I've had, the S-W juice from this era (and VSOF in particular) is my fav. EC12 is my in-production go to, but VSOF is the biggest treat I can think of -- I was truly blessed to stumble onto this much of it -- thanks to Dave The Warehouse Manager: Mr. Super-Long Ponytail Man!

Woo-hoo Joe! I have that same 50 ml set -- when I bought it several years ago, I left another 8 or 9 on the shelf (figuring "they've been there this long...")

Realizing the error of my ways, I went back this past year and they were gone. (Did pick up a WTKS pewter top from that same store, though!)

Nope that one is still in production -- a Heaven Hill product. I don't see it around a lot, but I do see it.

I don' think it's rare, I just have a very limited selection where I live. I've seen it in a few stores -- it pops up after I clear out the old dusty versions :grin:

I'll probably start seeing a lot more of it since I'm buying all the dusties and making it look like the label is really moving! It's prominently displayed in the HH literature and on the website, so I think it's a regular production item and probably widely available elsewhere.

It is pretty rare around my parts (mid TN) but is available a little east of here.

Watch where they are distilled and bottled. As a general rule, Louisville > Frankfort.

The Louisville label precedes the Frankfort label. Some say that the Weller Centennial is the same, some say the OCPR with the sloped shoulder (Louisville) is better that the Frankfort bottling.

I think both are good but if I had a choice, I'd go this the Louisville bottling.

Will, I haven't seen a VSOF that's labeled as Frankfort. In fact, as far as I can tell, the current HH bottlings are using the exact same labels as the original BHC version right down to the UPC code. The only distinguishable difference I can see is the VS of the neckband of the current vs. the HC crest on the early ones.

Stitzel Weller was the home for Old Fitz, Cabin Still, Rebel Yell and Weller until 1992. Then Cabin Still was sold to Heaven Hill and became a ryed bourbon. Also, in 1992 SW's still were shut down and production move up the street to the newly remodled Bernheim distillery(which was the home of Old Charter and IW Harper for many years). The "New" Bernheim made all the brands listed until 1999 when it sold the labels and plant. Charter and Weller went to BT, while Rebel Yell and Old Fitz went to Heaven Hill...to which HH then sold RY to Luxco. IW Harper stayed with it's original owner...Diageo.
