I’ve searched a bit, but have not found a comprehensive list of all bourbons currently available (still in production):

I’m looking for a list split into 2:

1) General Consumption Bottles – Same product every time.

2) Premium / Specialty Bottles (i.e. Buffalo Trace Experimental /Antique Collections or Parkers Heritage)

Is a list like this collected anywhere? Could/ should we look at the lists of bourbons on this site and add a column if it is still produced or not and a frequency of production?

There is no comprehensive list and odds are there will never be one, for a number of reasons

-no current producer publishes a list of everything they make

-there are many brands that only show up in a few places, states or countries

-how would you even begin to list something like the Antique Collection? It's out of production before it hits the shelf.

-producers don't exactly go out of their way to point out when things have been discontinued/changed

There are also regional variations. What's available here isn't necessarily there.

Because of the long aging cycle, it's hard to say what is in "current production" because distilleries--especially the ones with big portfolios--tend to produce recipes or types, not brands, at the distilling stage and even through aging. It's only when the whiskey is dumped and bottled that it becomes a particular product.

The easy part of the list--things like Jim Beam white, Jack Daniel's black. Wild Turkey 101, Maker's Mark, Evan Williams black--also isn't very useful. The part that would be useful if you could do it--the limited editions and such--is the part that can't be done for the reasons barturtle mentions.

You don't say why you are making this request but if it's to map out a buying strategy, well, you really need to put that together yourself, based on what's available around you and what you really want.

People here can probably help you ascertain the availability of specific products but a comprehensive list isn't going to happen.

Thank you for your responses.

It is for a buying strategy. I have liquor store that gets in all the Van Winkles, Buffalo Trace Antique, Buffalo Trace Experimental, and a few others.

They do not carry some of the Wellers, Elmer T. Lee, and a few others that I have seen mentioned and can only dream about tasting. Since I am her best bourbon customer - The owner asked me to put together a wish list and will order anything I suggest.

Bourbons she has in stock (or until I bought her out):

BTAC 2008 (Gone except 2 Saz and 1 Handy)

Buffalo Trace

Eagle Rare

All Pappys (1 Bottle of 23 left for now:( ) From 10 - 23 (and the lovely "Lot B")

Van Winkle Rye (I know it is not bourbon)

Woodford Reserve

Old Forester Birthday 2006 and 2007

Old Forester

Old Grand Dad

WT RR 90

WT Kentucky

WT 101

WT 80

Jim Beam

Knob Creek

Makers

Sam Houston

Jeffersons - All

Four Roses - All

1792

Weller Special Reserve

Weller Antique 107

Rebel Yell

I ask the wisdom of the site members here - What should I ask her to order???

Post some tasting notes on what you have tried and we may be able to provide you with others that you may enjoy based on that. Otherwise its a crap shoot, what I like you may not.

She may be limited in terms of what is distributed in your area. She's getting Buffalo Trace products, and other Wellers, so she should be able to get W. L. Weller 12-year-old. Beam is well represented, so Booker's and Baker's should be available. Be grateful that you have a full Four Roses range. Many people don't.

She's got Wild Turkey, so Russell's Reserve Bourbon and Rye should be available, as well as Wild Turkey Rye.

The big gap seems to be Heaven Hill products. I don't see any. Ask for Evan Williams Single Barrel, any release, but the standard black label is good too. Elijah Craig, 12- and 18-year-old. Bernheim Wheat. Anything from Parker's Heritage Collection. Also Old Fitzgerald, any expression, and Rittenhouse Rye. Help me, people. What am I forgetting in the Heaven Hill range?

Ask the store owner to get a "Tear Sheet" from her distributors. When the salesman comes around...he will have a "Tear Sheet" that lists all available liquors in his branch of the distributor. Collect all of them from her distribution network...and voila...your list will be complete.

This a great list. I would say deffinately get ahold of Weller 12, Bookers, EWSB and EC12. The others are great too, but those are the biggest gaps I see. Also, if you can get the Rittenhouse, do everything you can to get your hands on it - it is incredible. I did not list it because it seems to have a more limited distribution.

Wow! Great information!

Thanks for all of the replies. To respond to all the various responses:

I will post some tasting notes soon. I think I have

She does have HH products, EC 12 & 18 but has been out of stock of the EC items for a while.

I do have 2 Parker's Heritage (Cask Strength) from her. I forgot to put it on the list.

Thanks for the tip on the "Tear Sheet"

Cheers.
