Ran across this post on e-Bay the other day, just a standard 750ml bottle. It says it is "very limited" and "extremely hard to find" and is a "collectible bottle". BT is on the shelves of every store I have been in. I sent the seller a message asking why this is sooo rare and hard to find. Have not received an answer as of yet. Is this really that difficult to find or is the seller just trying to push a bottle of whiskey on the unknowing? Hell, I can pick up a bottle of this for what they are charging just to ship it, $21!

Just checked out his other auctions too and he has a bottle of Jonnie Walker Blue label that I see for $200+ for just $40 as of right now. What is up with that??

As far as I know, you can't really sell liquor on Ebay. The rule states that the value of the item must come the bottle and not from the contents, i.e. it's value as a collectible.

So basically they are lying to comply with ebay rules. I've seen 'rare' knob creek for sale, etc.

It may be rare in other parts of the world...like Antarctica or Iran but definitely not here in the states.

Just for future reference, please do not post the links to active ebay auctions. I will and do delete all them I find.

No prob. I think it ended right after I posted anyway. Thanks for the heads up though.

For what it's worth, BT isn't available in NJ. Living there, I used to consider it rare, but I've found a number of stores in Manhattan that carry it for around $20. But to someone living in NJ who doesn't have access to surrounding states it may indeed qualify as rare. Or at least difficult to obtain.

I don't think that unavailable in NJ makes it rare, no matter how you slice it.

FWIW, I reported a BT auction to the PTB at eBay explaining that it is available most everywhere in great quantities, but the auction was not pulled. They are willing accomplices in the scam.

Although it may be unethical and illegal, the less negative attention attracted to those buying and selling booze, the better, IMHO.

I am all for buying and selling on there (with or without the legalities). Just wish the sellers would give an honest description of what they are selling. I guess if you are really going to spend the money to buy something on there, you better do the research on what you are buying. If not you end up with an expensive bottle of "Rare" bourbon that sits on every shelf for less than what you paid for yours. I would be pissed. I personally thought that was funny how they advertised this bottle. Guess everyone is out for the $$$.
