For instance, Nebraska noted in writing about Johnnie Walker Scotch "The red is the red."http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6158&highlight=red+is+the+johnnie+walker+blueHow anyone ever came to the conclusion that this type of statement conveys any new or useful information is beyond me. Buffalo Bill
I will admit I have been brain rapped with more history than I ever wanted to know, but it has been great when I walk into a rundown liquor store and I can pick up some Old Fitzgerald Bond and Prime, Early Times, ER, Old Taylor, Old Forester, pre fire HH, UD distilled Old Grand Dad, Virginia Gentleman and a few others and know about how good the juice is based on the Tax stamp, UPC code or lack there of and the Government warning or lack their of.***Yo Spun Man alias Dumped = I was thinking in the same direction, with all the codified theoretical history jargon.... BUT - without it I wouldn't be falling over boxes and slamming my head into old and rusty liquor store shelves, trying to find another dusty - and I wouldn't have been accosted by bourbon crazed neophytes and history junkies on SB.Com either ;-) What we need is a well-written "Bourbon Thesaurus" so it's time we gang up on Cowdery. So Chuck, put the pen to the paper my good brutha! Help us in the name of God fearing bourbon, guts and America! That is, before we all go cross-eyed from trying to read those damn UPC codes. The Boozer
Dusty finds and "ample bottles on shelves" of dead or discounted brands like WTRR 101 or ER10/101. Not in my State (controlled). If there are any dead brands on the shelves in your State my question is WHY? Buy them all unless you don't like the brand or bottling. I would love to try ER10-101 or sloped shoulder of IW Harper, OF BiB; etc, etc, etc. Every liquor store in my State sells the same Beam products, with only a couple of the better stores offering a wider selection, BT & HH brands. Only the current stuff is available.TJ
