Anway To Find Prices At Duty Free In London or Berlin?

I might be doing some work related work this summer in Berlin, Germany Oxford and Cambridge, England that will be taking me through Duty Free shops in Heathrow and Berlin. Is there anyway to find the prices at these stores? I am assuming from reading old posts here the best deal is not going to be with Bourbons but with Scotches. Any suggestions? I am keen to know if it will be worth my effort, price wise, to get something I can get at home for a few bucks more. As well, I am totally confused about the current duty free process. How do I get my duty free purchases into my checked luggage? Can someone clue me into that process? Thank!

Do not purchase your duty free stuff on your return trip. You cannot carry it in your carry on baggage. Make your purchase when you land and then place them in your checked baggage for the return trip. Or, purchase on the local economy and do the same. For duty free, try and find Wild Turkey 8 or 12 year. Both are good pours. Blantons Silver, Gold and SFTB are also good purchase and shouldn't be too expensive. Finally, Jack Daniels Silver Select (100pf) is really top shelf and is my favorite TN whiskey. It's really terrific but a little pricey, probably around $60 a 750.

A lot depends if you have a direct flight home from overseas or if you have a connection once you arrive back in the US. On direct flights, you can have it in your carry on as you purchased it after the security check point. In the case of a connecting flight, you have to get your luggage, clear through US customs and immigration. After this point, you have to put any bottles in your checked luggage as it will then be put back onto another sorting belt to be sent to your connecting flight and you will have to pass through another airport security checkpoint to get to the next gate!

For American Spirits, the only real treat is the Silver Select from JD. Its a great pour to surprise the JD friend you may have.

WT 8 or even 12 is available, but I find these export only versions to be interesting, but not as tasty as the older versions (8 or 12) or the US premium bottleings.

Overall there isn't much interesting stuff available in Duty Free anymore. There are some VERY ($1000 - 2000) expensive scotches that have come out for duty free - but those are aimed at a different clientele.

Prepared to be underwhelmed.
