This kind of thing should be on the top of your list of "things to do" while visiting Kentucky. The bummed out, suck part, is the over inflated price is just "out of range" for the average Joe :( 100-150 bucks for a tour is just out of range. But...they know that this part of the industry has always been "private". I've gotten several folks tours though cooperages and let me tell ya...It's been frowned upon for years to let folks see what goes on there.

I'll assume that the "rest of the tour" will make good on your $100.00 worth of sightseeing? :skep: :skep:

I was amazed the first time I saw a "working cooperage" The rush was akin to the first day of work in the bottlinghouse  I was awe-struck!

Click on the link (beow) for full details. It will save ya some money...but it's not the same as watching in person :(

I'm hoping that the $100+ is talking specifically about what Mint Julep Tours is doing (bus to/from the distillery, lunch, etc.) not just the entry to the cooperage.

Funny, in the first part of the article, more than once, they refer to the:

"Kentucky Bourbon Trial"

They get it right (trail) later in the article.

This looks like a great tour, however I will die without ever seeing it if I must pay $100 or more to do so.

I support Bourbon by the Bourbon I buy and I don't mind buying the various products associated with it. But to kick in this kind of money for a tour seems over the top to me.

I know the coopers don't otherwise get any money directly from me but my support of Bourbon does support the industry.

Anyone know why it has to be so high?

This would make a lot more sense to me.

That was my interpretation as well. Overall, the article was very poorly written.

I'm with you on this one Chuck. I too agree. BB
