Hirsch 16 Blue Wax. I bought a bottle (about $80) from a liquor store in San Francisco and fell in love. Bought a second for the bunker. As I examined the consequence of forever losing out on my favorite Bourbon I started to buy everyone I found over the next few years (see avatar).

The largest single purchase was a case of Russell Reserve 101. That was my favorite every day pour and I wasn't as partial to the 90 proof.

My first to the bunker was a bottle of Lot B. Interestingly enough, I still have that bottle unopened.

My first Seek and Bunker mission, was for some of the early 2000's Wathen's. Quickly followed by an 04 Stagg grabfest.

My first and only bunker is a WT 8 yr old from a Mexico duty free everything else I drink. I will this too one of these days as I bought two of them that day and have drank one of them.

Rittenhouse BIB...it was at such a good price...$11.99.

Excellent choice. Wish it were available here to do the same with.

Mine was Eagle Rare 10/101. I was getting this super sweet deal of wholesale(13.50)....how could you go wrong? I cried when I lost that deal.

But alas, OWA 7/107 was right around the corner...black faux BHC bag and all. Now, that was some great juice.

ORVW 10/107 was my first. I bought two to go with the one I already had opened when the 107 finally appeared back on the shelves.

There were a few months last year when the only ORVW you could find around here was the 90 proof.

Mine was also a VW10/107 and a VW20yo - have opened both since though and replaced thankfully.

AAA-10yr, can't get that in NJ. Down to 1 bottle left and hoping to replenish this fall in KY.

1st spirit bunkered - JW Blue from a duty free 17 years ago - still haven't opened it (was saving it for a special occasion, now have other things that I really want to open more)

1st rum - Appleton 21 YO - again from duty free in 2003 (I think that was the year

1st bourbon - Spring 2005 Stagg

1st case - While first grandson was being born in July 2007, I was on the phone corralling up what turned out to be 3 1/2 cases of ORVW 15/107. Some went to SB friends, but put back 2 cases to tied me over a few years (still have a little over a case left).

First was a 1999 EWSB barrel-selected by Steve's Liquor in Madison, I really liked this bottling. Then I added 2 handles of SW Old Fitz BIB. That's the extent of my bunker thus far...everything else is open bottles.

I think I started with a 2007 bottling of Blanton's Single Barrel last June IIRC...it has turned into about a 40 bottle bunker.

Booker's, followed by Lot B, then VWFRRye. Original bottles have long since enjoyed and replaced with others...

Some of y'all will laugh, but ... a bottle of Jim Beam Rye. Not because it's a particular favorite of mine -- it's not -- but because I wanted one with the original yellow label.

I've been thinking more and more about the question. My first thought was one of my Van Winkle bottles (Lot B or Pappy 15), but my Wife reminded me last night about a 1 litre bottle of Jim Beam Gold BIB that I got Duty Free several years ago and didn't open for about 12 months..

I bought an OGD 114 and a Rare Breed for bunkering at the same time, after I had bought and tried them for the first time.

The second thing I bunkered was my first dusties. 13 bottles of OW 107 from 1979.

George,

Just stop now for the love of God. It starts with one bottle of Lot b and then a few of the BTAC and maybe some Old Forester Birthday bourbon or an EWSB or a bottle of Pappy. It will never end!! You won't be able to stop until you have everything. Just stop now before you get the sickness.
