I found one bottle of Old Charter Proprietor's Reserve 13 year old in an out-of-the-way shop, and grabbed it since this bottling has been discontinued by Buffalo Trace.

It is different than the other bottles I have. It is taller (9.5 inches tall versus 8.5 inches tall) and has a taller and narrower label. The label says "Distilled by Old Charter Distillery Co. Louisville KY" instead of Frankfurt.

What do I have here?

Greg, the Louisville bottling is referred to as "slope shoulder", is older and much more highly coveted by members of this board. A quick search should turn up more than enough info for you to read through.

Thanks, Andy.

I did find a lot of discussion on this bottle, with your tip on the phrase "slope shoulder" or "sloped shoulder".

I am still curious as to the source distillery.

From what I read on discussions here, it was made at United Distillers.

In my little bourbon library, I read it was made at Bernheim.

One and the same?

United Distillers did own the Bernhiem Distillery, prior to '99.
