Does anybody have an idea about the whiskey brand "Kentucky Boat"? I saw a few bottles at a Carrefour store here. On the label I read this definition: "Straight American Whiskey". There was no information about the distiller, interestingly.

Never heard of it. As we've mentioned before, you're way outside the jurisdiction of the TTB, so there is no telling what that might be. I assume Turkey is abiding by some EU rules, in positioning itself to enter the community, but whether that includes the standards of identity for distilled spirits I don't know. Do you?

Calling itself "Straight American Whiskey" sounds interesting.

I did a Google on it and came up with nothing.

mrt, what is the name of the distillery on the label.

I'll bet it just says The Kentucky Boat Distillery.

Well, as you also mentioned, there's an ongoing EU adaptation process here in all aspects, and the subject of alcoholic bevereages is no exception. However, I do not believe that the whiskey (Kentucky Boat) I saw was ever distilled or bottled in The US. Probably it's one of those that will disappear from the market as soon as the current bottles are sold. Since there's not even a single word about who the distiller is, I can never trust it, besides with a wierd-though maybe legal-definition as "Straight American Whiskey".

By the way, today I bought a bottle of Jim Beam Black. I like both Beams, but this is my favourite. The only problem is, it's probably too good to be used for making mint julep which I really like in spring time :)
