Gazebo Memories

Almost every night I glance at the remnants of a precious fluid in a gold-veined bottle that sits on my kitchen counter. I wonder if it is time to consume some of it. I won't wait much longer. This picture arrived from Linn today and it reminded me (the sitting person) of the generosity of Omar (the standing person) in providing the gazebo revelers a chance to taste a vintage bottle of Very Very Old Fitzgerald, which could quite simply be the best bourbon ever made. Omar obtained the bottle on ebay, brought it to the gazebo to share, and awarded me the right to any remainder. Thankfully, about 1/4 of the bottle was left at the end of the evening. I bring all this up now to thank Omar again for his generosity to the group and to myself. It's another fond Gazebo Memory.

So you got what was left! Good Deal! Omar was really generous to let me get a nip offa that bottle and you are right, it was Damn Good! All you guys (Julian included here) Spoiled me rotten (!!), letting me try all these wonderful, but impossible to find gems. Thanx so much again!

That was a very fine bourbon, Chuck, and I enjoyed the taste that I got. If all wheaters tasted that good I'd be a real fan. HUZZAH FOR OMAR! You da man!

I have all ready told Omar that getting a taste of the Very Very Old Fitzgerald was one of the highlightes of this year's festival. The bourbon appears to be somewhat of a legend.

Linn, I agree. Omar made our trip to L&G and BT possible, for that alone he will always be 'da man'.

But more than that, Omar is that rare combination of a genuinely good guy, AND A SUPREME HOTIE!!!

It was almost overwhelming this year to be able to taste all of those phenomenal bourbons one after the other, but the real standouts were definitely the Van Winkle Society of bourbon Connisours at the BT tasting and the Very Very Old Fitzgerald in the gazebo... both times we would probably not have had the opportunity to sample such wonderful bourbon if it was not for Omar...

Thanks friends. Brenda, you got me blushing here. Truth is, everyone who made it to the 2002 gazebo was very generous. There were a lot of great bourbons on the table to prove it.

What's the best way to keep our gazebo memories alive? We do it AGAIN . Maybe we'll find another classic bourbon to share. Talk about fun assignments.

Brenda, Bobby, Bettye Jo: you may be our best hope to taste the Stagg next year -- I doubt it will be available in many places outside Kentucky.

Indeed Omar as far as the Stagg goes I intend God Willing to have some of it laid in .I found out it should be bottled on Nov 15 and in my area around Dec 1.

Funny you should say that Omar. I just talked to Guthrie (at Toddy's) today about holding a couple of bottles for me. I've also requested that Drew (Liquor Barn in Louisville) keep me in mind when the Stagg hits the shelves. If I can get my hands on any extra bottles, I'll be sure and stash you one.
