funknik
So the OFS is good? Never had that. That's a matter of opinion, of course. Many like it, I think it tastes like doo-doo.:shithappens:
callmeox
So the OFS is good? Never had that.I like it and was going to pick up a handle or two of it next week but that is no longer necessary since I can souce it here shortly. It seems that Andy and I are 180 degrees apart on many bourbons, but that's fine as we won't have to worry about bogarting each others stash. I'll probably split a bottle Red Stag 3 or 4 ways just to give it a try. I often drink BT on the rocks with a couple of cherries at the bowling alley, so it's a logical curiosity.

fishnbowljoe
Went to the liquor section of Woodman's Market today to pick up a birthday present for a friend. There was a distributor there at the time. Naturally, I struck up a conversation with him. Although he deals with wines now, he used to distribute liquors. During the conversation about bourbons, he mentioned that Woodman's will be carrying Red Stag. I will probably get a bottle since I do have a sweet tooth. :yum: Joe
cowdery
I was in a liquor store in Ohio a few days ago and although I purchased some Old Forester, I was pleased to see J.T.S. Brown Bottled in Bond on the shelf, handles only. While it's not Binny's, either in terms of selection or in terms of prices, the selection at least at this store wasn't too bad. One curiousity: a lot of Ezra Brooks on the shelf.

callmeox
Yes, it is and at $88-$90 per bottle with tax included, it's not a bad price compared to elsewhere.

MTBottle
These showed up on the May price listCan this Ohio list be found online? Since I live near the Ohio border and never searched for bourbon there, I am curious as to what Ohio offers.Mark

Uncle Oswald
Beyond the more pedestrian fare and widely known labels (not to degrade or discredit), what are some rarities and truly special bottles available in Ohio? As much as I love Bourbon, I've not delved much beyond the more typical varieties that are common place in most well stocked bars. I'm interested in digging deeper, perhaps into collector territory. callmeox
Since you're in Columbus, I would say that there is little available in Ohio that you could not get by heading 90 minutes south to Newport, KY and plowing through the stores within 10 miles or so of the border. Beyond a few lower shelf gems, there's not much on the Ohio list that would make the average SB'ers eyes bug out.Disclaimer:Keep in mind that Ohio has limits on what you can bring in to the state without paying state tax on it, but I'm sure that you can stay below that limit. independant
Here in Va we got 3 new items in May,Red StagRebel Yell ReserveFour Roses Small BatchThey have one more. Corner creek reserve. This is really the first I have heard about this product. From the the little research I have done I think it is a HH product and some people liked it to bulliet. At 27.00 I am going to need to do a little more research. I stopped into my local ABC and they had red stag on the shelf but not the others. I picked up a 50ml of it. I didn't want to be disappointed like I was with the American honey I bought a 5th of.

I got some a few weeks back and took it to oscar's shindig. It was ok, but, like me, hot and young.I took it out a couple days ago and I enjoyed it quite a bit, maybe a little too much. Anyhow, it's worth getting, I think, especially at the price.I have seen CC several places in KY and IN, but I've been too chicken to plunk down the money. I was under the impression that it was actually a KBD product, but that's just a guess since it said Bardstown on the label and I haven't heard very much about it.
