I grabbed (2) 1972 Ezra 155 month old Decanters from that auction site. Planned on keeping it for house bourbon, but it didn't last long enough. Something I'm going to replace soon.

With all the good comments on OGD114, I have to buy a couple. Haven't tried it yet.

Old Ezra Brooks is good stuff but it's now hard to find.

Just about everyone here on the mighty, mighty SB.com has stated their favorite bourbons.

But what about those flings that you have had with other bourbons.

You know something that never makes your favorites list, but recently you been hittin' a particular bottle and your like, wow this stuff is great.

Well, for me it is Old Grand-Dad 114.

I have never listed it as a top 5 or top 10 fav, but recently I gotta say, this stuff rocks.

I think it is the so-call best bang for your buck pour.

And take the money equation out of it.

It is just flat out good.

Like 4th of July in your mouth.

It explodes.

I do have a similar experience with OGD114 Oscar. I did not care that much for the first bottle, but when I was in to the second one things started to happen, and today this is one of my regular pours and one of my favourites, especially in the taste per buck category. One other special thing for me with this brand is that it does taste more different from time to time regarding the “shape of the day†than other brands to me. In a side by side with a version from 1982 I did like the Beam version better.

For my personal taste OGD114 taste double as good as Bookers for half price.

100% in agreement.

Beam trashed Old Crow but they did OGD 114 proud.

New favorite for me is a Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit I got for Father's Day. Just the right balance of rye and sweet corn. I am mighty impressed by how smooth and drinkable it is.

I finally got to try Van Winkle special Reserve 12 yr Lot B and I have to say I liked it a whole lot more than the Pappy 20yo. It has nothing to do with being half the price, but I'm also happy about that.

I agree with you on the Lot B over the Pappy 20.

And like you said price isn't even in the equation.

Tried OGD BIB- NH liquor store @ $15/bottle. Nice and smooth to drink.

If you like that try the OGD 114 -- $18 at the Portsmouth NHLS . . . you won't be disappointed.

In recognition of his recent birthday, I've gotten re-acquainted with ETL. I've always had a bottle open on the bar but had been neglecting it for some time.

Man, what a very very fine pour. Well-balanced with a nice entry and mid-palate. Never had a disappointing bottle.

I often recommend ETL to visitors who want to buy "a nice bottle of bourbon". Particularly for those from out of town, since the bottle is "suitcase friendly".

Finished what I had 0n hand last weekend.... time to re-stock.
