Christian, the only thing 'wrong' with Jack Daniel's is the price. I'll admit, I don't buy it, because I can buy a lot of things a lot cheaper that are just as aged, and just as good.

But, that said, there is NOTHING WRONG WITH JACK DANIEL'S (other than what they charge for it, I mean).

Here in Europe the price level are very different with JD being relatively cheap. Old no 7 is about 2/3 of a Dickel 8 or 12. Still I never bay it because I think the 2 steps drowning down to 80 proof more or less destroyed this brand. The Silver select is about 40 euro and that is a very good price for a brand of that calibre I think. It is one of my favourites all over.

Heh. This is exactly how I've converted a few people over to KSBW as the preferred whiskey of choice.

EW Black is 9.00...1/3rd the price of a bottle of Jack.

Jack is not even 86 proof anymore either...it's 80 now.

And EWB is smoother, and tastier to boot.

That being said, there are still people that are strictly brand loyalists...must be the image or something. They look at EWB and say it's a "cheap imitation."

Perhaps the label is an imitation (didn't they do that to capitalize on a JD shortage a few years ago?), and yes it certainly is CHEAP (that's a PLUS in my book), but as for taste, quality and proof of the whiskey itself?

Bah, I'd take EWB over JD anyday, even if both were free.

Sweet...did you just agree to drinking mass quanties of bourbon and allowing us to taser you? Agreeing to this is the only way that I will allow you to drink unlimited Pappy 15 and VW Lot B...otherwise your stuck with ORVW and FRSmB! Can't wait for August 15th...

All jolies asside I find I can manage 2-3 drinks a night 2-4 times a week. More than three drinks and I will be feeling it the next day. I usually am just too damned busy to manage to have the time to have a few drinks more than 2-4 times a week. I always say drink as much as you care to as long as you are able to take care of your business (family, work, life, etc). When the drink gets in the way of any part of your business I say it is time to cut back on the drink.

That is my philosophy exactly. I drink every night at least 2 to 4 drinks, with 2 kids including a baby in the house and get up every morning for a full time job. Occassionally I will push it one to many on a weeknight and feel it the next morning, so I will have one less the next night to make sure I get rested properly. I have never missed work from drinking too much, nor have I failed to take the night shift with the babies.
