But if it was S-W can they change the distillery name and location name from Louisville to Franklin County?

They say distilled, aged and bottled in Frankfurt on the label of the Weller 19 and it is clarified that that it is S-W juice distilled in Louisville so I guess they can Oscar. This whole thing about the labelling is the thing I don’t like about American whiskey.

I can't seem to recall the date for the last days of production of the Stizel-Weller distillery.

I've heard both June '72 and Autumn '73.

So when was the last "distilling" done? Not just "production".

Production could mean something other than distilling I suppose.

As far as the first two WLarueW's being S-W whiskey or not here's what the spec sheets give for the Year of Distillation,

'05 release: Fall of 1993 (12yo)

'06 release: Spring of 1991 (15 1/2yo)

'05 maybe not if June '72 was the last days.

'06 could have been but here's the other twist.

The Stagg distillery made wheated bourbon for sell on the "spot" market so it could also have been their old stock and not S-W.

Another thing the spec sheets say is that the Distiller is Buffalo Trace Distillery, Franklin County, Kentucky.

I suppose they can call the former George T Stagg distillery Buffalo Trace.

But if it was S-W can they change the distillery name and location name from Louisville to Franklin County?

I am sorry, but I am just not buying that the '07 is better than the '06. I'll have to open an '07 and taste it again if I have more than 1 bunkered, but the '06 is one of the best wheaters I've tasted. It is also a favorite of Dawn's and I know she knows her wheated bourbon!

The last days of S-W was in 1992, not 1972.

Joshua, what did you end up doing in that deal? Maybe you and I need to get together this Spring and do a vertical of them all to lay our opinions out there.

Hey you big 'ole mule you!!

DAMN!!!!! Did I F up or what?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????

I must have gotten nostalgic this morning for the "70's, and of course I apologize for that!

All that stuff I posted up above that has dates in the ??? is suppose to mean the 19-90's,....OK?

I have an 05, 06,07,08 open if anyone wants to come tast 'em.

I still contend the 05 is the best, then I like the 08. to me, the 06 is nothing special. Yes, very good... but they all are....

Sorry, got the ages of 05 & 06 wrong in my head.....05 was the 12-yr old - not 06 which is the 15.5. I never tried the 05 but love 06 & 07. Not had a chance to try 08 or 09 yet. Need to find an 05 and another 06 for bunker.

Are you sure you're talking about the 129.9 2006? And the 121.9 2005?

I remember liking the 2005 and thinking it was the greatest thing ever, but that was because it was when I first discovered this site and barrel proof bourbons. I am now wishing that I had more than 1 2005 bunkered so I could do a complete vertical; however I did compare 06 to 05 and saw it the other way, so Birdman I just may take you up on that offer!

.... And sorry to keep running off topic here, I haven't tasted the 2008 that I can recall.

Yep, Christian.... I am talking about the 129.9 2006. Don't get me wrong. I like all the WLW's. But in a blind with day that my father in law, we both picked the 05 as our favs....

Disclaimer to previous post.

Upon re-reading my post, I want to clarify that by no means do I consider myself to have a "professional" palate. I am really just posting my opinions on the WLW's.

The 2006 may indeed be the "best" of the series (as noted my many people with much more experience and educated palates), however that is not how my taste lines it up.

OK, now back to the original post....

Personally, I liked the 08 a bit better than the 07. I felt the 07 lacked a bit in the "thickness". However it was at a great drinking proof.

and Christian, you are welcome anytime !!!

I am fairly new to the forum, and hope that I am reading all of the abbreviations correctly. I was in NY this past weekend and had a chance to try barrel proof W Larue Weller and barrel proof Stagg. I am not sure as to the bottling years, but they we both fantastic. I normally drink wheated bourbons and my well bourbon at home is weller SR, and when I can find it, WL Weller 12 year.

I loved these barrel proof bourbons, but cannot seem to find them anywhere. I know we will not have them any where in NC, but any ideas on SC or VA? I have some buddies who go to kentucky, any ideas where they may look when they are up there? Thanks!

Oh, how I wish I would have picked up an extra 2006 BTAC WLW when I saw them still around. Never got an 05 either for that matter but recall the comments were not near as favorable as the 06 edition. If anyone spots an 06 (129.9) anywhere collecting dust or has one for sell/trade, please PM me.......I am ready to buy, trade, beg, borrow, steal.....well, you get the pic.....lol.

Everyone knows the 2006 129.9 is my favorite. I drain one bottle per winter season. Just emptied this season's bottle. I'm good for 4 more winters!! I will miss this one!

I will bow my head in remembrance of it as well....share your pain.....but, my eventual hurt is going to be much more severe. At this point, I have to ration about 1-2 pours per winter. It might last 1 more.......maybe 2 if I get lucky or distracted with the 07 I got not long ago and have yet to open.

OK, I recently bought a couple bottles of the 2008, actually more than I meant to because I thought the first one was 2009. I opened one 2008 because I hadn't tasted it in a long time, it is good not 2006 (not even close IMHO) and will eventually open a 2007 to compare and hopefully score an extra 2005 to do a complete vertical at some point.

If anyone needs a 2008 I apparently have an extra to trade since I bought more than I needed.
