Which BTAC WLW for special event?

I'm a big wheater fan and I've got a special event coming up (wedding) and I thought I might pick up a bottle of the BTAC WLW at a local store. I managed to find a place that has the 05, 07 and 08 and they might even have the 06 version (it's a high shelf!) for $64.99.

I've noticed that several folks prefer the 06 but I wanted to see if there were any other opinions out there.

Also of note...they have the PVW 20 for around $90. Perhaps I should go with that instead?

Comments, suggestions, opinions?

Is this for yourself to drink at wedding or a gift?

As a gift, I would stay away from such high proofers. Newbies just don't understand.

If for yourself, I'd go with any of the WLW or a Pappy 15.

Thanks for the reply!

It's for me, and to share with a few special out of town guests.

I'm a big Lot B and Weller 12 fan so I thought I might step up and try the Weller at barrel proof. Then I saw the PVW and that muddled things even more!

My original suggestion would be Lot B if it's a gift, Pappy 20 or any of the WLW's if it's for you. Since I saw your last reply, I would go with the Pappy 20. I don't think you or your friends will be disappointed. Joe

I finally opened my 06 last night and it's great but not what I expected. I haven't been able to find an 08 around here but I've had one taste and it's perfect. And since Pappy is a possibility, I'd saw the 15 is great because...well it's great and at 107, not too far away from barrel proof.

Any (or all) will be great. Killed off a bottle of the 2008 this past weekend with my in-laws and it is excellent.

You must really like the in-laws to share a bottle of WLW.

I think I'm only willing to share whiskey of Lot B quality and lower with the in-laws and thats if I'm feeling generous.
