B3Nut
Found a few handles of OF BIB, label says DSP-KY-16, bottled at DSP-KY-24 (IIRC). Bottle has "98" on the bottom. Could this be S-W juice, or could it be more likely Bernheim where they were using up labels? Are these a good bet for $30? I can almost see the store from my office. Thanks, TP

Thanks, TP Buy them all... they are SW juice. I am suprised that it would be 1998 - more likely 1996 with the 6 stamped over the 1995 "5" making it look like 1998. B3Nut
the 98 looked to be molded into the glass, not stamped. Maybe I'm not seeing the right thing. Going to go back...I feel a quick breaktime coming on...
B3Nut
Went ahead and pulled the trigger on one today...they have been in a window so I'm going to have a taste tonight. If it's good I'm grabbing another one tomorrow. Can't afford to grab all four right now...but seeing as they've sat this long... ) I'll shoot some bottle pics tonight too and post them. It's looking like I just got my very first SW dusty score! woot!
ggilbertva
If the label indicates DSP KY 16, then it's SW juice.
B3Nut
Finally got a couple pics. I'm gonna be itching tomorrow morning to go back... Thanks for the advice/input/encouragement guys! I think I done caught the dusty bug. I can definitely taste why S-W was a legendary distillery. What a shame that it was shut down.
tommyboy38
Todd,Nice find! I've seen a DSP16/24 dated as late as 99 and also wondered if they might be using up old labels as the bottle I saw had a much lighter colored whiskey than previous bottlings. The nice thing about dusty hunting is the the season never closes and the DNR can't stop you from bagging as many as you want. I'm hoping to do some hunting up WI way come August when I take a vacation. I just hope my wife doesn't stop me from hunting...I don't think she knows that it will be a dusty bourbon vacation. B3Nut
I'm hoping to bag the rest of these...I've been seriously diggin' the taste of this juice. Running back over there tomorrow.

Running back over there tomorrow. $30 may be a little high but it is good juice. You may want to ask them to give you a discount if you buy the remaining couple of handles. I've done it and I get the discount more times than not.
spun_cookie
Todd,Nice find! I've seen a DSP16/24 dated as late as 99 That would be a nice find. That would make that a 7 year BIB... that would be very tasty...Todd,also wondered if they might be using up old labels as the bottle I saw had a much lighter colored whiskey than previous bottlings. It would violate the BIB rules... and not worth the risk for the distillery... If it says DSP 16 - it is SW...I would have thought that the SW Fitz juice would be gone by 1996 (4 yr min on the BIB). What it could be is tanked juice that was used up through 1999... but all of the 1997 and older 750mls I have seen were Bernheim juice.... and then HH... Great find and you can never have to many handles of SW....
tommyboy38
I have a '97 750 ml listed as DSP16/24 and a liter and a handle from '98 of similiar origin. Were any bottles ever labeled DSP 16/31???
