I found this thread on Clarke's Bourbon but it didn't seem to get an answer to what it is:

Aldi stores in the UK are selling a Clarke's Bourbon from tomorrow and I'd like to find out who makes it:

Has anyone found anything out since that last thread?

Hey butephoto, good to see you on SB.

I believe Clarke's is an export only brand. Here's what I got from a little bit of research. The "Clarke's Distillery" name is registered to a German company called Borco-Marken. My guess is that this German spirits company owns or licenses the brand name.

The Kentucky registered agent for Borco-Marken is...Max Shapira of Heaven Hill. That doesn't necesarilly mean that the Bourbon in the bottle was distilled at HH, but if you had to make a guess, that would probably be a safe one.

Hey sku! I was just reading your post on my forum then checked back here. Spooky. Good to see you too. Just broadening my horizons as ever.

Thanks for the info. I reckon no matter which distillery it is from it has to be a bargain at that price. That's half the price (at least) they would normally sell for here.

Well, I took this along to a tasting in Edinburgh that I regularly attend as a 'mystery dram'. It was a very decent and drinkable bourbon. Heavy banana notes on the nose. I'm going to have to get myself another bottle of it today at that price.
