MikeK
I've finally finished uploading distillery pictures from the recent Sampler to my photography website. This recent visit includes less-often seen facilities like Heaven Hill - Bernheim and Four Rose Cox's Creek.http://www.bourbonstreetphotography.com/Touring%20Bourbon%20CountryI'm also working on uploading photos from previous years as I get through them.Enjoy,
cowdery
Very nice. I've never actually toured Cox's Creek, but now I feel like I have. The bottling seemed awfully manual. Do they bottle everything there, or just the Single Barrel?
callmeox
They bottle everything there. Our tour took us through the entire line and the guide included the separate dump tanks and filtering equipment for the single barrel and mingled brands. Single barrel dumping takes place about 10 feet to the left of the main dump line. The bottling line was topping off a number of short filled cases of Super Premium that were caught before shipment. The temptation to grab one and dash off was great. After touring BT, the reduced scale of both the distillery as well as warehousing/bottling for Four Roses is remarkable. MikeK
Yes, that's the whole bottling line, all manual. It is very close in scale to the small manual bottling hall at BT right next to the visitors center. Besides the obvious bulk shipments they make for Diageo (like Bulleit), they also ship some FR whiskey overseas in bulk where it is then bottled for that market. But they do also bottle many of the export cases right there as well.
chazjaz
Wow, those photos are stunning and the captions are terrific. What an inspiration to plan a trip so it can be seen in person. Thanks Mike. Terrific job.
