2008 BTAC - New shipments?

Went to my local and was surprised to see a few bottled of William LaRue Weller ($65, '08 release). The bourbon guy wasn't around to ask at the time, but I know they had run out of this several months ago. Are there subsequent shipments of this available to certain merchants?

Just curious how a place might source a few bottles of this so long after it's initial release (I'm sure they weren't hiding them in the back unless they were misplaced at some point).

Anyway, I picked up a bottle to try and will ask the spirits buyer about it next time I see him...looking forward to opening this soon as I've liked the more common Weller's I've tried so far!

It was more then likely transfered from one store to the next. Does the owner of your store own any others? Or maybe they were holding it for someone that never claimed it. I went into a store in DC 3 weeks ago and they had the whole collection on the top shelf minus the GTS with sold tags on them. They said they were holding them. I tryed to get then to sell them to me but they said no.

I have heard rumor that with the BTAC the distributors will part way through the year pull back stock from stores where it hasn't sold and sent it back out to stores that have moved theirs.

It's a great concept, get it back out of those &^&* stores that have it on the shelf at $100.

In the stores where I was getting mine last year I knew how much they had from their online inventory, but when I'd get to one of their stores I'd have to ask for it from behind the counter. I guess they were reserving it for those "in the know" and they still have a couple of each left.

That one , but none of the others from the BTAC, has been showing up here as well. We have gotten a three pack here and there for the last month or two. Around here, everything comes from the distributor so I know that these were not tranferred from another store (at least not a store in this chain). I thought that it was odd that it was always the WLW and I keep waiting for more Stagg to show up but it hasn't happened yet.......
