David Nicholson 1843

I am wanting to get some input from the bourbon connoissuers on this site. I have drank many different bourbon through the years, but I am far from that of any connoissuer title. I just know the bourbons I like. I was recently given 2 bottles of David Nicholson 1843, 7 year old, 100 proof. Both bottles are 4/5 quart and have DSP-Ky-16 on the back Distilled and Bottled by Stitzel Weller Distillery for Peter Hauptmann Co. The US Government sticker on one bottle it says Spring 1957 Fall 1964, and the other bottle says Spring 1963 Fall 1970. Are these bottles a rare find? Will the bourbon of this vintage be any better than that which could be purchased today? How much might they be worth to at a bourbon auction? Thanks for your help and input.

Oh, I AM gonna drink them. It's just a matter of if it's for a Special Occasion or tomorrow after I get off work.

I would say open one tomorrow after work. If you like it save the other for some special event. If you plan on drinking them then why let them both sit on a shelf forever waiting for that special event.

These will be pretty tasty but won't bring big money at auction. It's marketed in the St. Louis area, long considered the local 'good whiskey'. I imagine it's currently HH whiskey, but the old S-W bottles I had were basically 7 year old or older "Old Fitz". This per some of the savvy if long gone fellows from this site.
