Not often down here do we get the chance to mingle the distillers of the fine spirit we all love; I was lucky enough last year to hang out with Bill Samuels when he was here in May, and this Wednesday Fred Noe will be in Brisbane and Cam and I will be attending a bourbon tasting and BBQ lunch with him.

Can't wait to meet him, and get him to sign some goodies!

i have a few bottles of KC signed by him....he isn't going to mind signing Booker's and stuff is he? I was told he doesn't like signing JB white?! (Not that I have any)

Fred is happy to sign whatever you have. As long as it's a JB product.

Fred's a good ol' boy.

Never seen or heard of it, are you serious?

It is export only.

Last week I was at Bourbons Bistro in Louisville and I saw a bottle on the back bar.

I saw it on the shelf, for sale last sunday at The Party Source in Bellevue Kentucky. It was a couple bucks more than Booker's. Comedic label though.

What a great afternoon. After hearing Fred tell some stories we embarked an a tasting flight that went from Basil Haydens, JBB, Baker's; then Booker's after a special toast to his Dad.

It was then followed by a BBQ lunch where Fred took it upon himself to tip 1/2 a bottle of Booker's over our steaks. They had some rolls to put them on and some Jim Beam sauces and condiments.

After lunch, Fred came over and sat with myself, Cam and my good friend Ian and signed some items and told us some stories for about 45 minutes. I pulled out the Jim Beam Barrel Bonded that was opened when Randy was over here and we all had some with Fred. He is a great man, and I had a really great time - it was an honor to meet him and share some stories!

I'd like to echo Scott's comments. It was an excellent afternoon and Fred was one hell of a great host. The stories were captivating and quite often had the group in stiches. It was a pleasure to share good food and bourbon with Fred. Most of my photos look similar to what Scott has already posted, but I will add one more.. The three of us tasting the Jim Beam Bonded. I'd also like to thanks Scott and Ian again for a great afternoon.

Oh and I did ask Fred about the Booker's "Fred Noe Select". He said 3 batches were done for a customer in Japan that wanted him on the label. He said they were not too keen on doing it, but after they doubled their normal price and they said they wanted to go ahead, they thought maybe they would just do it! Funny they are being found in KY!

I just looked at my photos again, and realised I had a photo of the Bookers flaming on the BBQ...

I would love one of these US Fred Noe Select bottles if anyone sees one around and can help me out. They must have had some labels left over from the Japanese batch and thought they would see how it went in KY.

The Japanese version looks like this......I love the barrel-like packaging!

The botlles of Fred Noe Select for sale locally (in Northern KY) have a slightly different label than that pictured below. "Fred Noe Select " is printed in black, not brown as pictured. The wording under the "Fred Noe Select" is not there, nor is the wording (Booker's?)to the right of the vertical black line on the right of the label. It also comes in the standard "Booker's" wooden box with the clear plastic front. No indication on the labeling that is was intended for export only.

I'll post a picture when I get the chance.
