Bentrod
Looks like the 2009 will be on the shelves soon and it appears that it will be a 12 year old expression. Old Forester Birthday Bourbon® Louisville, KY - Old Forester has released this year's expression of its Birthday Bourbon in honor of George Garvin Brown, the founder of Old Forester, America's First Bottled Bourbon™. Launched seven years ago to commemorate Brown's Birthday on September 2, Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is a premium, historically award-winning bourbon and a must-have for bourbon enthusiasts. This year's vintage release of Old Forester is crafted from a 98 barrel batch of 97C19. These barrels were stored in the small warehouse B and larger warehouse J, on their 5th and 8th floors respectively. These upper floor locations exposed the barrels to a great degree of heat during the summer months which resulted in a rich, complex maturation profile. Color Chocolate brown with orange highlights Aroma Rich caramel layers with a combination of milk and dark chocolate notes dusted with brown sugar. A sprinkling of brown spice and a hint of orange peel round out the sweet character. Taste Warm, rich and slightly sweet with deep fruit and dark chocolate notes balanced by a touch of coconut and soft oak. Finish Intense and long with a smooth ending. cowdery
It's out in Louisville and Corbett's already has it on the back bar. I haven't tried it yet, but will next week.
kickert
I bought a bottle to celebrate the birth of my daughter. I will be interested in hearing what others think. It did not seem to impress John: http://blog.maltadvocate.com/2009/09/02/review-old-forester-birthday-bourbon-2009-release/
ErichPryde
I really liked the 2007 expression but haven't tried any of the others. I consider it one of my favorite strong rye bourbons, and look forward to trying the 2009.

cowdery
I had some last night. It's hard to really evaluate something in a bar, but it tasted good to me, with all the cues you would expect from something that's 12-years-old.In this season of limited edition releases shooting up over $100, Birthday Bourbon is a bargain at $40.
