OscarV
It's been a sad week. Two great soldiers fell this week: Weller Centennial (Bottle Barn), and 4R 120th anniversary. Now, a moment of silence...

Josh
Sorry to hear that Josh, my condolences, especially on the Centennial Bottle Barn bottle, but if your suppiler reads this I am sure he will offer up another one for you.If not, well then do you still have come barrel proof WT K Legend? If so that will help you forget. Also I have a few 4R 120th bunkered away here in 'Lil Nap.Yes I have been drowning my sorrows in WTKL. Don't do this much but mixed a bit of WT 8 with the WTKS last night. It was very nice. But then I was out of WT 8!But I still have my 2009 Barrel Proof, my Curtis/Hightower, & my Mariage to fall back on. Somehow I think I'll survive. unclebunk
I'm on a roll with my "thin out the herd" program. I've made a concerted effort to knock off a bunch of open bottles in order to create space for some new ones from the bunker. So, within the last week I said adios to bottles of EC12, OGD BIB and FRSmB, with Michter's US1 Bourbon to fall tonight during the Yankees/Angels game. Will be opening an EC18, OGD 114, FRSB (2008, batch #2 from Binny's) and Michter's 10 YO Single Barrel Rye in their place!
onmytrack
Say goodbye to an OWA (AS). Only 4 left in the bunker. May have to give the NAS a try.Jim
Stones
I am sad to say i finished my first Weller Centennial, not my last fortunately though as i have 2 in the bunker. I rated this bottle in my top 5... it was crazy good!
HighTower
A Crown Royal XR nearly bit the dust tonight. My daughter grabbed it and pulled it off the shelf. I think the velvet bag stopped a mishap!:bigeyes:I would have been saddened, the XR is great stuff!Scott
JamesW
Finished up a VSOF last night. This one is always a bit of a mystery to me. I really like the nose and taste profile but somehow it falls short of greatness. Mostly it tastes like a very good bourbon that's been just a little too watered down for my tastes. I'd like to see this at 100 or 107 proof to make it truly great.

A lot changes as you grow older there young fella. But bourbon doesn't argue with you if you drop one and go with another,... or :skep:?
B3Nut
Polished off an OWA NAS...poured my glass, then saw there was just a slup left in the bottle...so I dumped it down the hatch! Adieu to a darn good bottle...

I still have one bunkered as well. If I had to pinpoint the problem I'd say the entry was watery, the mid-palate very good, and then the finish is watery again. If that mid-palate could last throughout it would be a top pick for certain.
cowdery
Emptied a 2003 Eagle Rare 17 last night, which I enjoyed very much. Compared it to the 2009. Sadly, I liked the 2003 a little better, but not much. The 2009 is good stuff too.

JamesW
I would say I've started to notice a "tang" in it that is perhaps what some others refer to as a 'vitamin' flavor (I'm not quite sure). It's not always there: sometimes I get silky-sweet nuts and wood flavor ("that's what she said") but I do notice that "tang" . . . I have another six bunkered, so I guess I'll have plenty of time to make up my mind about this one . . . as Oscar said, lots will change, maybe when I'm his age, this will be my favorite again . . . :grin:hmmm... I'm not getting any 'tang' that's for sure. Now I'm curious again and may need to open my other bottle :-)

I just got through pouring the last of a Lot B. last night, I thought that this would probably be my last bottle, as I like the PVW15 so much more (when I can rarely find it) but now, sipping this stuff, I'm not so sure. it really is good. I will definitely end up picking up another bottle sometime.
Vosgar
It was time to finish off a couple of bottles that were down to their last pours. Took care of an ERSB last night and today finished off an Old Fitzgerald BIB. Too bad I didn't pick up more of the Old Fitz when FB Joe and I found it as it was very tasty, especially for the price. Josh
Just poured an oversized of WT101 to finish her up. A favorite everyday pour of late.A sad day. Again, two noble soldiers laid down their lives tonight. My latest Rittenhouse BiB and my first foray into snooty WT expressions, a donut-shaped bottle of Wild Turkey Kentucky Legend Barrel Proof. What's the mathematical name for that shape again?:slappin:

I will definitely end up picking up another bottle sometime. The exact same thing happened with me. I was fortunate enough to find a place last year that was selling the Lot B at $34 and the Pappy 15 at $37. When I had them back to back the Pappy 15 was the clear winner in my book, so spending the extra $3 per bottle was a no brainer. I bunkered six or seven Pappy 15's and decided that the Lot B bottle would be my last. But I recently started to drain the last quarter of the bottle and it tasted great, so now I'm re-thinking my decision, as I can still find the Lot B at a reasonable price. It's very good whiskey, to be sure, but I'd still opt for the Pappy 15 every time if the price difference was close.
