A sad day. Again, two noble soldiers laid down their lives tonight. My latest Rittenhouse BiB and my first foray into snooty WT expressions, a donut-shaped bottle of Wild Turkey Kentucky Legend Barrel Proof.

What's the mathematical name for that shape again?:slappin:

I love that Ritt. Such a value pour! I haven't had the pleasure of the WT you put down.... sounds interesting.

The exact same thing happened with me. I was fortunate enough to find a place last year that was selling the Lot B at $34 and the Pappy 15 at $37. When I had them back to back the Pappy 15 was the clear winner in my book, so spending the extra $3 per bottle was a no brainer. I bunkered six or seven Pappy 15's and decided that the Lot B bottle would be my last. But I recently started to drain the last quarter of the bottle and it tasted great, so now I'm re-thinking my decision, as I can still find the Lot B at a reasonable price. It's very good whiskey, to be sure, but I'd still opt for the Pappy 15 every time if the price difference was close.

Pappy 15 for $37? Buy every single bottle at that price. That's like a 40% off sale.

A bottle of 07 W L Weller poured its last, last night. All to a good cause. There was just enough left to fill my flask for me and the guys on my bowling team. A good time was had by all. Gave me an excuse to go pick up its replacement tonight. An 09 W L Weller should be in the fold by nights end. :grin: Joe

A bottle of Bulliet bit the dust, very enjoyable. Also finished of a bottle of OWA 107 AS. Did a little side by side comparison with a new bottle of OAW NAS. Didn't find there to be much difference in color, nose or taste, both very good. The OWA NAS may have been slightly richer but just a tad, if any.

You have super human resistance to popping that bottle open and drinking that OGD. That bottle quickly moved toward the top of my favorite dusty list.

Polished off a Weller SR. Pretty sweet for a sub $20 pour. One bunkered @ $15 but the price is rising up to $20 in most parts here.

Come up to Maine, James -- it's $12.99 on the shelf and when on sale I get it for $10.99! Still, it is no substitute for OWA (in fact, nothing is) -- I like to have a Weller Antique to prime my palate before moving into the fancier wheaters, but I just can't keep it around -- this NAS thing is not helping, either.

While handing out candy the other night (man it got cold out there) a bottle of 2006 Stagg was not a trick but a treat...a CGF WT 12 met it's match as well.

Good thing we have replacements for both.

I polished off a current WT Rare Breed while watching Monday Night Football. I really love this pour and I always try to keep a Turkey in the rotation, but I have to say I'm getting a little bored with the small selection . . . the Rare Breed is my staple and the Rye101 is probably my favorite non-premium rye, but there's very little beyond that in the WT portfolio . . . I find no versatility in their offerings and so few options.

Maine it seems has the lowest price I've ever seen on certain items and pretty high (comparable to MA) prices on others. Also, one company (mis)manages liquor sales here and they are not in any way knowledgeable, so their pricing may not get updated very often, but it is "across the board" -- there is no variation of price in any store in Maine.

WLW SR is $12.99, Dickel #12 is $13.99 (#8 just showed up at $19.99:rolleyes: ), EC12 is $17.99, OGD BIB is $17.99 . . . the trade-off is that we have the worst selection I have seen almost anywhere.
