The first of the 12 bottles of Lot B goes down with a great feast tonight. I'm afraid I did 90% of the damage...i'm rather inebriated.

If you can get Ezra Brooks 7/101, I've heard it's pretty close if not identical to the Virgin 101.

I was told this too but with the help of a friend here at SB I was able to get a bottle of Ezra Brooks 7/101 and I compared them and found that there are differences. They are close being both HH juice, as I believe, but not the exact same. That being said if I could get Ezra brooks 7/101 here, as well, that would be a daily pour, but I can't get either.

I've done the same comparison a couple of times with different bottles of each, and if they are not identical, they're about as close as you can get. I would guess that any differences would be lot-to-lot, or year/season differentiations. I'm convinced that they are for all intents and purposes, the same bourbon.

Doing more then one comparison you would know more then I. Also I was comparing a freshly open bottle to one that had been open for quite some time so my results could have been skewed that way.

Indy, even if I'm correct, it must come with a caveat. The Old Ezra 7/101 is not distilled by Ezra Brooks, so variables are certainly possible, if not inevitable. As our buddy Jeff Renner's Signature says: "One never knows, do one?" I do know this, though. I really enjoy both the Virgin and the Old Ezra. Especially, for the price.

Troyce, my neighbor, and I went to see Troyce's son's 4th professional MMA fight last night. The cheap ba****d that Jimmy is , he snuck in a flask of Weller 12, which he thoroughly enjoyed downing while watching his son totally dominate his opponent. I stuck with Maker's with a few cubes from the bar. Even though it was poured into a plastic cup, it was delicious. And, probably the most righteous pours I've ever been served. 8oz. cup filled to the top, every time. $8. BTW, this is the second MMA event I've been to, and again, was totally amazed by the number of smokin' gorgeous women in attendance. :blush:

On a mission to whittle down too many of the open bottles with just a tiny bit left. The night before saw the passing of an age stated 8 year Old Fitz 1849. Last night was the last delicious ounce of a 2008 ER 17. I had forgotten how outstanding the 2008 ER 17 is.

Ended a bottle of Ezra B 12 yo SB. Despite the kitschy packaging, the juice is pretty good. I'll have to look for a replacement.

Drained a bottle of WT 101 a few nights ago. Working on a 1989 bottle of Walker's Deluxe right now. With a little luck, the last drop from it will be poured sometime in the next few minutes. Joe

Where OH Where has all the Van Winkle gone. I have travled around my area

to restock and to my suprise NO Van Winkle anywhere.. at least 10 stores, some very well stocked in bourbon. No 15YO, lot B ...They can't even get Weller for some reason...Is there a shortage somewhere?
