Yeah I know I am a little late posting pictures but oh well, here they are. At buffalo trace they led us on a "hard hat" tour after the tasting to let us see the guts of the operation. Here is one of many of their Mash Fermenters.

As opposed to the BT fermenters that were so deep you couldnt see the bottom, the wooden fermenters at Labrot & Graham looked to be about 6 or seven feet deep.

One of the things that was interesting to me was the buildings that they made the bourbon in, and how they were not that much different than normal production buildings. Here is some of the more interesting working buildings @ Buffalo Trace.

The single barrel bottling room was a trip to see! Anyone who doesnt believe that they bottle this stuff one barrel at a time should go and check out the refrigerated holding tanks for themselves. I have a souveneir mission for someone. If anybody finds a bottle of Blantons with the following info (cribbed from the batch sheet next to the holding tanks):

Bottled On: 09-19-02

Stored in : Warehouse H

Bottled At: 93.7 proof

I would love to have the bottle. What better souvenier than a bottle you watched be filled on the tour!!

All they use to fill barrels at L&G is this hose and mallet! Talk about small batch. . . .

As an Idea of just how spoiled we got at our GAZZBO party, these are the bottles that were not claimed when everyone left for the night, just a small fraction of the overall spoils. . .

Wild Turkey 101

Old Rip VanWinkle 15/107

Old Charter " The Classic 90"

BEEJ's Infamous W.L. Weller 19 year

Knob Creek

All managed to find their way to Bobby's cookout the following night, except the WELLER, which somehow ended up in VA with Linn. . . . confused.gifconfused.gifconfused.gif !

All right you bourbonic experts, what is this thing called. It is right by the column still at BT and you can see the clear new make running through it, the name just eludes me. . . .

Guest **DONOTDELETE**

Let's see Tom ... ummmm ...The !.75L Knob Creek was from Bob Kaufman and the !.75L Wild Turkey was from his friend Jeff I think his name was. The Old Charter was from Chuck Cowdery. I can't remember who brought the Old Rip. smirk.gif

Oh and the name you're looking for is either spirit safes or tail boxes, as both terms are correct.

I think it was either Mark or Chris who brought that (you brought Barton and I brought ORVW 10/107 if I remember correctly. . . .)
