The PLCB sucks even more

All the Van Winkle products except for the 12 yo are not listed any longer by the PLCB. Gone are the 23, 20, 15 and Rye.

Way to go PA! You sure know how to screw things up. I mean if the largest liquor buyer IN THE WORLD can't list some of the best bourbon available I guess that means more for the rest of you and that I'll be shopping out of state.

Never mind the fact that the 12 is listed at $49.99 now... Even when the other products were listed in their catalog I can't even remember the last time that they were actually in stock anywhere.

Just talked to Kris Comstock at Trace about this last week:

"There is no Van Winkle in stock at the PLCB warehouse. We are finishing

up bottling this month. Pappy 15, 20 and 23 are special order items in

PA. Your friend should be able to order some next month at his local

store, however, it will take a few weeks for them to get it in."

Much as I HATE to stick up for the PLCB, especially in matters related to their crappy bourbon selection policies...

Since the code numbers that the PLCB uses are no longer on the website they will have to be reinstated before anyone in PA can special order Van Winkle product. We'll see.

Is it just me or has the PLCB also dropped much of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection? If so that would be tragic. Although the price is usually fairly high at least you would get an opportunity to buy some of the better bourbons without having to go out of state. I can not wait for government control of my health care!!

If the Pappy van Winkle bourbons are listed as special liquor order (SLO), the PLCB store will probably have to order more than 1 bottle from their vendor. Typically, SLO items have a 6 bottle minimum and some are 12. A few examples are: Four Roses Single Barrel, Small Batch, and "Yellow Label" are SLO and require ordering 6 bottles, 12 Yr Elijah Craig has a 12 bottle minimum, and Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit has a 6 bottle minimum. I don't know if a store will order 6 bottles, if a person only wants one?

I believe that those quantities are case lots. If so, then you should be able to order BTAC in lots of three.

The Stagg was there last week when I looked it up but now it's gone. Still a few bottles of Eagle rare 17 left in the state, no Handy, one bottle of Weller and no Sazerac. The new batch hasn't hit yet and probably won't until the end of the month. Most were $52 last year in PA but I see where Binny's is asking $64 for this years batch. If that is the norm then a 20% increase in price is a bit much.

Absolutely not. I have never gone to that big store on Naamens Road in Delaware. I have never gone to Phillips wines in Stockton NJ. Nor have I gone to certain popular liquor stores in NY. Never. Not once.
