Lots of new premiums this fall and only so much money. If faced with these decisions which would you choose?

Parkers Heritage 1st edition ... or ... Jefferson's 17yr ?

Parkers 27yr ... or ... 2 Jefferson's 17 yr?

Parkers 27yr ... or ... 3 BTAC's ?

Rittenhouse 21 yr Rye ... or ... Stranahan's 21 yr Rye ?

Parkers 27 yr ... or ... 2 OGD Bib '62 and a Old Taylor BiB '65 ?

The only answer is... one of each. Obviously.

Are you serious?!? That's a no brainer! The BiBs for sure! And for that matter I would think those three would still only be about half or a third the price of the Parker's so you should be able to get 1 BTAC as well.

The answer to all of them is Four Roses Barrel Strength, as many as you can afford.

Where the heck is Stranahans getting a 21yr old Rye from?

With the choices given I would go with A1 and C2.

A1.) I'll take the PHC 07 over the Jeffersons 17 based on personal tastes and put a few extra bucks in my pocket to buy a nice RITT BIB.

C2.) Thats just a no brainer, mix and match or grab your favorites. 1 Stagg 1 Weller and 1 Handy all barrel proof!

I'm in the ND BIB camp as well (and also suspect that they could be found for much less than the PHC...)

I love the PHC's and the JRPS and I haven't tried the Ryes or the BIB's. If you can't get them all then the 3 BTAC's gets my vote.

DeanSheen gave you the right mix, 1 each; GTS, WLW & THH.

ooops I just realized I aid Stranahan's - I meant High West. Some of the other threads talk about the source.

Tasted the Jefferson's 17 last night and that helped make up my mind.

I'm going with PH 1st edition and a few BTAC's. Handy, WLW and Stagg.

Thanks for your thoughts.

To answer the questions,...

1. Parker's 1st Edition

2. Jefferson's 17yo

3. 3 BTAC's

4. Take a pass and go with top shelf bourbon

5. 2 OGD & OT

1. Parkers' First edition --- simply better whiskey

2. Jeffersons --- take the two-fer

3. BTACs --- I'd take the three bourbons

4. skip em both --- grab a couple of the 2009 FR Mariage (if you have to pick, take the Rittenhouse)

5. the BiBs

  • 2 weeks later...

This is such an easy call! Which one will be most difficult to replace? Do we pick from each line?

PH2007

2JRPS

3BTAC

No opinon. Spend it on strippers?

2OGD + OT.

Whiskey is in it's prime around 10-15 years in a barrel. That 27 YO juice can't really be that great. In a blind taste test it would probably not do well. Hell, at 17 years old even a wheater is past it's prime.

LOL after I wrote this I looked through the previous posts. Looks like my opinion jives with the rest. If you pass on those BIB pick them up and ship them to me!
