mhn
I usually enjoy the higher proof bourbons and was curious if anyone knew of any that are barrel proof? Obviously parts of the BTAC are, but I'm curious about others. And if so, which would you recommend? Thanks!Mike
cowdery
Booker's was the original barrel proof. Many specialty bottlings by KBD and others are barrel proof. Weller Antique is 107 proof and Old Grand-Dad 114 is 114 proof. Both Four Roses and Wild Turkey have some barrel proof offerings, but barrel proof for them is relatively low, not in the 140 vicinity like Stagg. Standard Wild Turkey 101 is very close to that distillery's average barrel proof. In no case is this the sort of thing every store will have, so knowing what is available generally won't do you much good. You have to call or visit your retailers to see what they have to offer. All of the over-proof Beam products are pretty widely available, which includes Booker's (125-127), Baker's (107), Knob Creek (100), and Old Grand-Dad 114. jburlowski
Some of the FRSB's are barrel proof, Same with the PHCs. The recent Willett bottlings I have seen also are. Lastly, Rowan's Creek is advertised as barrel-proof.
