Ruby K
A friend is travelling to chicago and has agreed to make a stop for me. however, I'm assuming she can't take any more than 1, maybe 2 bottles. For chicagoland area folks, if you could take ONE Binny's selected bottle with you, which would you pick and why? Choices I'm looking at are:1) Weller 12- b/c frankly, i can't find it in New York, and we finished the 1.75 I brought home from Austin this summer.2) Any of the Four Roses SBBS bottles except the OBSQ, as I have one of those from Park Ave.3) Binny's Buffalo Trace(or take advantage of the 15 dollar (!!!!!) price difference between Binny's and NYC and get4) Van Winkle 12bDon't want to presume she can fit a handle oreven take a second bottle. what do y'all think? hectic1
If it were me it would be a Binny's Weller 12...that bottling is really a special pour...at 14yrs 3mo you aren't going to find a smoother more tastey Weller 12 on the market. The Binny's BT is good but I wouldn't put it in the "special" category that I do the Weller. You can get lot b by you as well at the FR SBBS bottles from your post. My final selection is a bottle or preferably 2 of the Binny's Weller 12. PS. Don't make this a regular thing though...the bourbon at Binny's is reserved for residents of Illinois! Appreciate the advice. and if it was me coming, i'd bring just enough clothing to wrap the bottles in my suitcase! :-)
cowdery
The Binny's selection of Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel is particularly good.

I have had the Bourbon Crusade OESQ bottle of the FR SBBS...it's spicy and quite good. This is the first BS bourbon that I've had so I had to get used to taking smaller sips...I did order a second though and just picked up a FR SBBS OESO from Binny's today. I have a half bottle of Lot B from 2007 expression. I have no Weller 12 and can't find it here. But Lot B, when i can find it is 60 bucks. Clear as mud, right? :-)

ACDetroit
Andy, I would say you're right, the Weller 12 if you can not find it is a must, you may want to grab 2 (they're small). Binny's has a fair price on the Lot B as well so that I would agree on as well. For the FRSBBS I would say an SBBO or an OBSK 35%(Spicy) or the OBSO 35% (fruity) are my choices if I was grabbing one!Oh and Andy... nice to see you back!Tony
Vosgar
You can't go wrong with Binny's Weller 12 or ETL, they're both excellent. Their BT isn't far behind either. If you can only get one, I'd go with the Weller. This is the bottle I told my wife I could just keep drinking until I got completely stupid. (she said I was already there without any bourbon)
ThomasH
If Binnys ships to NY, order some of everything you want. If not, get the Weller 12 if only 1 bottle or if 2 bottles, A Weller 12 and a FRBS OESK. Its 120 proof and you would get a lot of mileage out of a bottle!Thomas
