I just polished off my first bottle of VOB bottled-in-bond. It certainly won't be my last, as it has a unique flavor and a price that's tough to beat, even if I have pay for shipping. The VOB also made a terrific Manhattan.

I forgot one. My cherished bottle of 1967 AA gave up it's last pour last week too. The nose on this bourbon was remarkable. Double Dutch butterscotch. I'll remember this one for a long time. Joe

Killed an OGD 114 and his cousin OGD BiB over the weekend. Great stuff. Hats off to Beam for not screwing up the OGD line-up.

Where you picking these up? I've looked a bit online for a store that would ship to me in Maryland, with no luck.

Interesting. Do you know what the barrel number was on that one?

Sorry, already gone in the recycling.

Killed a BHC VSOF tonight . . . sad to see that one go . . . promised myself I wouldn't open another for a while.

to help with the watching of the State of the Union, I finally finished that last old Woodford bottle. Farewell, honey barrel goodness.

Can't remember the last time I killed a "special" bottle -- I either dump to smaller glass or say oxidation be damned -- but I finished an OFBB Spring 1990/2003 last night. More caramel than the dark fruits I remembered from earlier tasting, but very nice. (Pain eased by the fact that there's another bunkered, and I know a shelf with two more dusty examples.)

It took over a year but tonight was the end for a 8 year age stated, Old Fitzgerald 1849. Can't say I'm sad to see it go as this just never did much for me.

Add a bottle of JRPS to the pile. Sad to see it go. I did not exhibit any self-control with this one.

My first bottle of JRPS went down pretty quickly as well. I am working on a batch 2 bottling right now and trying to be a little more reserved.

add a WLW'09 to the list. I'm happy and sad at the same time. Happy to have enjoyed such a delicious bourbon, and sad to see it go. Damn. Delicious juice, and no self-control.

Nothing special, but a bottle of Woodford Reserve that's been on the shelf for a while is off to the recycling bin.

Last week I finished my last drink in a bottle of 4 Roses Yellow, the last couple drinks in a 6 year old Isle of Jura scotch and the last "few" drinks in a OWA 107. My recycle collection guy must think I'm a real drunk. Well I guess he's right....

This one hurts.

Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage 1994.

I've had perhaps ten of these. I love that edition. I'm not sure if that was my last one or not. I can't quite bear to look.

But the beautiful thing about the chest whose contents I don't check very often, there's probably also something wonderful in there that I forgot I have.

It's been a bloodbath this week. Laid down some greats, WLW 2007, Binny's Weller 12, EWSB 2000 and the 4R 2009 SBBS is getting dangerously low.

I get so depressed about finishing these bottles that I feel like I need a drink, but that just makes the problem worse.

Well I lost my good friend George this week. My 08 GTS is now gone, but not forgotten. Joe

I'm trying to follow Oscars lead and get rid of the some of the 40+ open bottles that I have before I open anything new. A Weller SR hit the recycle bin along with a Singleton 12yr SM. THe Weller SR will not be replaced as I thought it was pretty boring.

That 1994 happens to be my wife's favorite bourbon. We have one bottle, about 60% full. It only gets tapped occasionally.

If the Saints win today, that will probably happen (she's a NO native).

Finished Jim Beam Black, Rittenhouse Rye BIB, and a 375ml of Knob Creek. That helps justify recent purchases to replenish: Bernheim Original, Jim Beam Distiller's Series (7 yr, 90 proof), and Old Forester Repeal (on sale for $20 - 375ml, plus Signature is NOT available around here).

Johnny Drum Private Stock, at the price a good candidate to be replaced.

Saw JDPS on sale for $30 (from $50), is that a good price? This doesn't have an age statement (used to say 15 on the neck of the bottles). Any more info?

Lost a GTS last night. These things are disappearing quickly. Might have to wait a while to open the next bottle.
