silverfish
I know that both Old Forester and JD released a special 75th Ann. Prohibition Repeal bottle and I was wondering if there were any others?

loose proton
I do like the glass that comes with the OF set, but I'm not in a hurry to get one for our local price of $22.

fishnbowljoe
I have seen both the JD Repeal Set, and the OF Repeal Set in numerous places. Funny thing though, I have been to a couple places (can't remember where) that had the OF 75th bottles by themselves. They were the 375 mls on the shelf with the rest of the usual suspects. Wonder if they cannibalized the sets and tried to sell the bottles. Or, maybe the glencairn glasses somehow got broken. Either way, I thought it was odd. Vosgar
I bought one of the OF sets at Binny's last month for $15, but just last Friday I found a store that had 5 sets on sale for $10.98! And yes, they were complete sets with the glass. I had already brought to the counter $250 worth of other goodies, so I only picked up 2 of them. My gut said to get all five, but I couldn't get myself to spend anymore than I already had. Mistake? Probably.
theDon
2 OF Repeal Sets opened, 2 OF Repeal glasses broken. I love Glencairns, but I can't keep from knocking them over. The base is just too small. I'll take a rocks glass please.

nblair
I saw a few of these the other day for around $20, but I didn't pick them up when I noticed they were only 375ml. Is the juice the same as regular Old Forrester?

cowdery
The whiskey selected for the Repeal bottles was not standard OF. "Repeal Bourbon is bottled from a special selection of Old Forester barrels that exhibited a more robust character that is similar to the Old Forester that was bottled during Prohibition," said Chris Morris at the time. It's also 100 proof.More here. Also see this SB thread.
nblair
Thanks for the info Chuck. I think I might grab one of them. Could be interesting to try an OF with a "similar" profile to a prohibition bottling. Joe's notes of an acetone smell in the SB.com link kind of scares me off a bit, but if I don't like it then hey, free Glencairn right?
cowdery
For $15, I think you'll do okay.
Old Lamplighter
Unfortunately, I have not seen one of these under $25-30 down here. Even with the glass, will likely pass on it for a 375ml at that cost....can't be that special.
