doubleblank
Doug was in town and we went shopping for current releases and/or dusties. I'm not very knowledgeable about scotch dusties, but Doug was excited about this find. So much so he's going back to buy some more. Doug had seen pictures of this bottle in Murray's first edition, but never expected to find one. It's a Balvenie 12yo Founders Reserve in a flask shaped bottle that reminds one of the Mateus Rose bottles of the '70's. Of course we had to taste it right away and the opened botlle stayed here with me. A very dark whiskey for sure which Doug found heavily sherried and delicious. I liked it too. flsean
Nice little find, can't say that I've ever come across one of those. How does the taste compare to the current juice?
doubleblank
Its in the same vein as the current 12yo founders reserve but with a more robust, smokier profile. While I'm no expert, I usually find the Balvenie lineup to be a good recommendation for bourbon drinkers wanting to try a scotch. This one definitely says Scotch with the smoke and sherried finish.Randy
