jinenjo
I must say, if BT puts out something, I'll take notice.I'm looking forward to trying this one. I'd like to know the age statement though.
Dramiel McHinson
Very interesting...I'm wondering if it stays true to Canada's blending techniques. It might have a range of different ages, some of which could be quite elderly. I think it would definitely be worth the effort to find a bottle and give it a try. I'll look for the tasting notes. cowdery
I haven't had this but I have had a few high end Canadians and it's still Canadian whiskey.

ErichPryde
yep, it's a rock hill farms bottle and something very close to a blanton's top.

CorvallisCracker
Took another look at it this morning and noticed the wax drips. As soon as the Makers Mark lawyers see that, there's gonna be trouble.
fishnbowljoe
Well, since it's from BT, and since I was weaned on Canadian whiskeys before I made the move to bourbon, I just might have to try a bottle. Joe

ThomasH
I wonder if this brand is being bottled in Frankfort? Most top shelf Canadian is bottled in Canada. Most of the cheaper brands are tankered in bulk to the US and bottled here!Thomas
silverfish
I asked my local retailer if he could look into CC for me. He called and left a message that he had some in so I took a trip to the store today. He was only able to get three bottles and after his distributor let him have a taste, he put one aside for himself. So, I brought home the other two (less than $50. each.)The packaging is pretty impressive. First you have a box with a hologram like effect which bring to mind the Northern Lights. Very "sparkley". The bottle is in a royal blue velvet bag similar to Crown Royal. It looks very nice with etched designs on two sides.Someone mentioned Maker's Mark with regards to the wax - to me it looks like a blue version of the Blanton's (with two little "rip cords") but it removes easily. The Maple Leaf stopper has a nice heft to it. The bottle has a "flared" lip (like RHF) which makes pouring a bit tricky but that could be just me. I guess you could boil it down to a Rock Hill Farms bottle with a Blanton's stopper covered in MM (or Blanton's) drips all inside a CR velvet bag. Certainly no innovative designbut the whisky itself is rather tasty and I would probably pick up another bottle or two to sip during summer evenings or for friends that find my JD SB too "harsh". jinenjo
Anyone spot this (or the other BT Canadian--the less expensive release, I forget the name) on California shelves?
silverfish
The other one is called Royal Canadian Small Batchand is about half the price of CC. My local retailer in NY has yet to get it in but is trying.John Hansell reviewed CC - gave it a 93!

matthew0715
Speaking of Royal Canadian, isn't Crown Royal owned by Diageo? I'm surprised:shocked: there is not yet a lawsuit against Sazerac for using the word Royal in the name of a Canadian whisky.:stickpoke:

fishnbowljoe
I've seen Caribou Crossing at a couple of stores the past two weeks. I was very tempted to buy a bottle because I started out drinking Canadian whiskies, and I still have an affinity for them. I passed because the price is a little steep, and because of the limited number of folks that have tried it so far. The prices I've seen so far are mid $50's. On a more positive note, a friend of mine went fishing in Canada, and brought me back a liter of Gibson's 12 yr old Canadian Whisky. I like it. It's not as sweet as CC, Crown, or Forty Creek Barrel Select, although it's taste is closest to the Forty Creek. I might have to bring a box of Canadian whiskies to the KBF. I have some Crown Black and G.M. Tiddy's too. Cheers! Joe
whskylvr
We tried the Caribou Crossing recently - EBSG tasting great bottle and stopper. It tasted more like what a blended bourbon should taste like. It was lighter and softer than a straight but had a real whiskey flavor throughout.

squire
Saw a bottle of this yesterday at one of my regular stores. Without knowing anything about it my thoughts were Rock Hill bottle and Blanton stopper. The information on the carton stated the whisky was selected from a stock of 200,000 aging barrels but is fuzzy over whether the barrels were bottled singly or mingled, recasked, then bottled from single barrels. The label clearly states Sazarac but I didn't see BT mentioned.Anyway, while firmly standing on my convictions, I refuse to pay for a fancy stoppered bottle that will be tossed when empty. It was sitting on the shelf right next to the new Collingwood which is also a snazzy bottle.

squire
Gary, next time you see it read the descriptive information on the carton. I'd like to get your take on what they are actually (or not) saying.
Gillman
Okay will do. I might pick it up, I'm in a phase where I've bought a fair amount in the last months and thought I'd concentrate on what I have (plus I have a lot of my own vattings), but one more won't hurt!Gary
