Chu'Wuti
Best solution - teach your wife to drink. She'll then wait patiently in the car while you shop during your travels, and occasionally come in with you and find something she wants to put on the counter. p_elliott
In October of last year, I got married for the first time at the age of 48. We have three kids, ages 9, 7, and 6. My wife totally understands my bourbon habit, especially with me being a new parent.....I did get a dirty look a few weeks ago when I informed her I was giving up wine for Lent. I was promptly told it was going to be a long six weeks.....That's just scary I got married in October 3 years ago for the first time at age 46. She had 3 kids ages 12, 10, 9, it's not excatly the same but close enough to be weird.

Chu'Wuti
Why, thank you, Paul! He was very cooperative during our photo session! It was difficult selecting a pic that would work as an avatar; I really liked some of the other pics even better but it wasn't as clear that I had a snake wrapped around my Laphroaig 30 yo--following W.C. Fields advice, of course!Actually, that BP is a very laid-back snake who never bites--makes a great snake to take out for company when they're brave enough to want to touch one! Thanks again!Sandy

Edward_call_me_Ed
FIntroduce your wives to the joys of fine whisky' date=' dudes! [/quote']I tried that. I gave her a fine bourbon to nose and was informed that it smelled like puke. She nearly did right then and there. Unfortunate experiences in College permanently ruined her as far as whiskey is concerned. Tell your DH that he is a lucky man! EdPS. I am sure he knows. JamesW
I've had many of those looks but she really put her foot down when I tried to take up cigar smoking. The pairing of cigars and whiskey is just too good! Check out this thread. Chu'Wuti
Now, if I can only get them both converted to bourbon, or at least rye whiskeyConverted? Not a chance.ADDING them to our selection is possible, though, and you've already succeeded in doing that!Ed, I'm sorry your DW can't stand the smell of bourbon; that is definitely a sad thing. I don't care for the smell of beer, so I can sort of understand, though I definitely appreciate the smell of bourbon & Scotch!Anyway, thanks for the compliment, and I am a lucky woman! jburlowski
Good news: my wife has finally taken to bourbon, going from turning her nose up, to bourbon & cranberry juice, to on the rocks, to neat.Bad news: she's taken a real liking to Lot B and doesn't want any of the "cheap stuff". Two drinking will go through a bottle a lot faster than one. Having your wife drinking too certainly makes it easier to spend spend spend!!! When I do smoke (outside), she definitely gives me the look.Oh yeah...I've taken to calling cigars "Wife repellent." When I'm drinking whiskey with my pals, I'll announce that it's time to go outside and have some wife repellent...and we all laugh, and we all get the looks......but sometimes you do need to have some conversations with the boys, and cigars are perfect for ensuring the womenfolk don't want to be around. :slappin:
