JamesW
Port Charlotte PC6..... Has anyone tried this one? My local store called me to let me know they will be receiving 2 bottles and asked me if I'd like them to put them aside for me (can you tell I'm a good customer? ). Anyways, what I can tell is that it's limited edition, cask strength, 6 year old madeira cask finished and Islay. Price is about $100. Seems like a lot to spend on a 6 yr old whisky. It has decent reviews though and I love Islay whisky etc.... any thoughts....
sku
PC6 is one of the newer highly peated malts from Bruichladdich. It's very young and very smoky. The Port Charlotte line is worth trying as it's a different type of smoky flavor than you find in other Islays. The series started with PC 5 in 2007 and is now up to PC8; PC6 seemed to be the least popular, and as a result, there still seems to be lots of PC6 around, but I think it's a pretty decent malt. $100 is actually a good price, it usually goes for closer to $140. JamesW
Went to pick it up today but ended up passing on it. They had some van winkles that I took home instead. I just couldn't bring myself to spend the $100 on a 6 year old whisky when I can get some Talisker 18, HP 18, Laga 16, or Laph 18 or even the CS for a lot less money. You certainly do have access to some good prices.
