It's Derby Day! Unlike the NCAA championships I think this is the one day that brings all Kentuckians together. And even if you've never set foot in the great Commonwealth of KY, everyone on this board appreciates the discovery of the bourbon well that is Bardstown ;) I think we should have a toast with America's drink on Derby Day. Mint Juleps for everyone!

I don't know if drinking a julep out of a silver cup actually makes it taste better (And no I don't want to open the leaded vs non-leaded crystal vs glass debate) Bottoms up!

A mint Julep it is. I don't have a silver cup but I do have a German pewter cup that will do nicely. To The Derby, Cheers! :toast:

.....And, it's believed that silver and, to a lesser degree, pewter cups aided in antibacterial help for drinkers that don't use highly acidic drinks in them. So, one can only benefit from a good bourbon in a silver or pewter cup :yum:

No Mint Julep for me, I'm going with Four Roses Binny's OESO for The Running Of The Roses.

Calvin Borel has won two already today, here's to his 3rd, (hopefully).

The bourbon sounds great, but I am not so interested in the mint julep part. Sorry.

No real wager, I always do a fantasy bet with myself and I cherry pick a few. I use an imaginary 20 dollar bill.

I split it up on 4 horses, 2 to place and 2 to show.

$6 on Super Saver to place paid $26.40 and $4 on Paddy O'Prado to show paid $14.80

A little more than doubled the 20.

So now I can take the fantasy winnings and buy a real bottle of bourbon.
