Now I'm going to show off......I just turned 30 and I was gifted 3 bottles for my birthday that collectively spent 30 years in american oak!

Beautiful Scott! Absolutely beautiful.

Tym,

Trust me you do not want to pass!! Especially on the 2009 FR Mariage! Actually I think you may have tried that at my place....but yeah we need to do that. the last FR tasting was Yellow label, Single Barrel, Euro SB, Small Batch, FR 120th Anniversary, FR 40th Anniversary and FR platinum. We can now add mariage to that!

Scott

Did i? I remember the Elmer T and the Jefferson's Presidential Select 17yo but the FR Marriage evades me for some reason. I've read others say it is a fine drop and am ashamed if i'm unable to remember it.

I like the way you think Clayton, and I imagine that Pernod aren't the only company that would love a great bourbon in their portfolio. The problem is with these guys...they are about to lose WT, which accounts for 30% of their sales. Obviously it is a world renowned brand that sells itself. Outside of the US, Europe and Japanese markets, I would suspect that not many average bourbon drinkers would know about Four Roses at all, which is a great shame.....as obviously such a brand would be a risk for them. Sponsor a V8 supercar I say!!

With 30% of their sales market gone, they have let go 30% of their staff. A good friend of mine was retrenched after 9.5 years with them.

I heard about that and it's very unfortunate.

Clayton, may I ask where you work?

I'm in Perth and manage an independent liquor store, why I dont know!

Clayton,

They only made 30,000 bottles of Tradition. 16,000 were allocated to the US, the remaining 14k to Japan and AUS. I would hazard a guess that we got 7,000 bottles each. If it's $100 a bottle, I'm going to stock up big time! I just got some a few weeks ago and by the time I paid customs and freight charges they landed at AU$180.

I am trying to organise a private tasting while he is in Brisbane, where we will taste a very large range of exclusive WT bottlings.

As far as the "core" brands are concerned, the reason they aren't going to bring the new Russell's Reserve out is because it is not WT branded at all, and not many people over here know who Jimmy Russell is. Damn shame as it would increase not only their portfolio but get more interest in premium brands; but like you already pointed out it's a risk for them.

Kentucky Spirit would be great in limited numbers, but I guess it would hurt US and Japanese availability with it's limited bottling times.

Also Clayton, your state isn't listed...where you at mate??

My understanding is Dan's had a "special" bottling done for them, got this from an excellent source...

Wt Russells Reserve is in Vintage Cellars isn't it?

BTW that's a great looking lineup, That WTRR Rye is supposed to be great!

WT RR 101 was released here through Vintage Cellars & First Choice I think..... so basically Coles/Myer. It's mostly gone now, but every now and again I see a stash of multiple bottles (the last one was about 12 bottles @ $80 each at one particular store)

I'm very keen to see what eventuates........bit of a Turkey fan :) I visited Dans the other day to see if they had anything great but no cigar!

The Russell's reserve 101 that Vintage Cellars have is very identifiably a Wild Turkey product. The 90 proof does not have Wild Turkey written on the bottle at all (the new ones anyway). Haven't cracked the RR Rye yet, might open one this weekend :yum:

I worked for Liquorland for 10 years, but now manage a couple of Independents myself.....the 'other side' is so great!

I was at Springwood on Wednesday or Thursday last week.

A mate of mine in Melbourne called me this evening, he was at his local Dans and they had 2 on the shelf for $100 a piece.

Nice work Clayton!

I went looking yesterday but no cigar.

Woolworths have just stopped buying from ALM up here and set up their own warehouse, so it could mean delays for us QLDers.

My mate went back and got 2 in Melb, they had sold the other 10 in a week and a bit.

I can't see this being around too long, especially in the high volume atmosphere of most DM stores.

Anyone in Qld seen WT tradition on the shelves yet? :skep:

I picked up 2 bottles at Dan Murphy's Wooloongabba last week for $99 each. They had several more in stock at the time.

I was at Wooloongabba store again yesterday to pick up a case of Soft Merlot for Jen. I swung by the spirits section and they still had a couple of bottles of Tradition on the shelves.

Tym, I have the car at work most days. PM me if you want to do a lunch time trip over to the store :)
