I collect Balvenie Vintage Casks and had all but two of them. One is/was so ridiculously expensive I don't think I'll ever be able to get it but the other was within reach if I closed my eyes when writing the check. After four years of looking I finally found a 1951 Vintage Cask, the first the Balvenie Vintage Cask released in 1996. With only 90 bottles issued 14 years ago it wasn't like they showed up too often.

Besides the date on the tube and bottle it doesn't look any different then some of the others issued before they started putting them in wood boxes but its special to me.

God help some of you if bourbon ever gets this expensive.

Nice! That bottle is 8 years older than me. I won't even ask the price. I wish I could afford to indulge my Scotch affliction. The best I can do these days is a few decent bottles of 12 year olds here and there... with a 15-18 year old thrown in once in a while. :D

I don't *collect* scotch, but I'm trying to accumulate Glenrothes 1975. At over $400 a bottle, however, I will just have to sip for awhile...

I started a special account when I started looking just to save up for this and I still was a bit short. The last one will take me at least 8 years and by then I expect the price will go up so I still won't be able to get it :(

Tasty, I've got a few inches of the '74 still.

Mortgage it AVB and then take a bailout

Truthfully, your collection has transcended hobby. You are now a curator of scotch history.
