I'm looking for a gift for a scotch drinker who was born

in 1975. I realize a scotch distilled in '75 may be either

hard to find and/or quite expensive but I thought I'd

ask here for some suggestions.

Ideally, it should be something available in the US so

that I could check stores in my area or order from an

on-line seller. Understand this item doesn't have to be

top shelf quality as I'm thinking it'll have more of a

sentimental aspect so pricing at the lower end would

certainly be considered.

If anyone has a recommendation, feel free to post a

reply or shoot me a PM.

I know of at least 2....Glenlivet and Glenrothes have releases distilled in 1975 and I'm quite sure there are others. Unfortunately.....expensive.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I found Braes of Glenlivet 1975 / Connoisseurs Choice

at The Whisky Exchange for £57.62 ($85.60 USD plus

$38. shipping) which isn't too bad.

Was the Braes/CC the one you had in mind?

I am VERY fond of the 1975 Glenrothes. It does run upwards of $400, though.

No....the one I recall seeing was about $290. I am unfamiliar with the one you found.

From what I know there isn't going to be too many to choose from in the US. Even overseas the price will get up to £100+ rather quickly. However, all is not lost as Binny's has a 1975 Imperial available for $100. I have one and it is actually pretty good. The problem is they have it listed for in-store only. Luckily Brett is a member here and may be able to help you out with that problem. Good Luck

Check with Jay Erisman at the Party Source. They have at special program for finding birthday bottles. Details here.

THANK YOU.

I ran across that page a while back and neglected to

bookmark it and do you think I could remember where

it was? Not a chance.

So what did you decide on?

I'll probably go with the Duncan Taylor Strathmill 1975 Vintage 28 Year Old.

It's modestly priced and Binny's ships to my state.

Jay at PartySource sent a very nice reply to my bottle

inquiry. He offered a few suggestions but did mention

that 1975 seemed to be a particularly hard-to-find year

as far as "Birthday Bottles". I will probably follow his

advice and get a "nicer" (read: more expensive) bottle

for 2015 (40th birthday).

I appreciate the replies and suggestions!
